Happy Tuesday.
I hope you are all having a wonderful day. Here in Minnesota it is another glorious day. So unlike the heat, humidity and storms we have had recently. It’s so wonderful to have temps in the 70s, low humidity and very little wind! Despite it being gorgeous outside, I did manage to get into my craft room and play along with the sketch challenge across at AAA this week. I brought out my Poinsettia Cluster again but…. I used a color I have NEVER used for a Christmas card before. Actually, it’s a color I hardly ever use – PINK! I was just tired of seeing poinsettias in red so went looking for other colors and found that you can actually get pink ones!!
And here’s the sketch from AAA:

The first thing I did was die-cut a stitched oval. I added a little blue ink with my blending brushes and adhered it to the card base.
I then die-cut the pieces for the poinsettia with Neenah white 110# cardstock and blended the bracts with 3 shades of pink with the darkest at the bottom and the lightest at the top. I die cut another layer of the larger bracts and colored them with green ink. I adhered the poinsettia to the focal layer and added a sentiment. It’s only now that I’m looking at the badge that I noticed the little “sentiment” at the bottom right corner! UGH, I completely missed that!
Anyway, here’s my full card:

Well, having never made a pink Christmas card before I can tell you that I am loving the soft pink with the minty greens. It’s a fabulous color combo and it’s a combo that feels fresh. I did make a much more traditional card with this set a couple of days ago and you can see it at this post. With that card I used the traditional greens and reds. It’s amazing how different it looks with the two color schemes.
I’ll be back tomorrow with another card. In the meantime, warm hugs and prayers for those of you who need a little lift tonight.
Card recipe:
