Spellbinders and Woodland Scene for Freshly Made Sketches #699

Happy Sunday, again!

I have a quick post for you. I managed to get into my craft room and play along with the Freshly Made Sketches challenge that ends tomorrow.

The shape of the sketch inspired me to use some new die-cuts that I got when Spellbinders had a BOGO sale. This Woodland Scene set fits with the Simon’s Snow Globe dies from the same release. Between the two sets you can make all sorts of different scenes for your snowglobe. For today’s card I decided to go with a classic woodland scene.

Here’s a sneak peek:

And here is Verena’s sketch from FMS:

No stamping on this card, it was all die-cuts. I decided I would create a metallic base for my snow globe so I pulled out some very old copper metallic cardstock that I have had in my stash forever. I die-cut the globe from white cardstock and blended some blue for the background. I had initially intended to create a shaker card, but I just couldn’t keep the acetate clean, so dropped that idea! I die-cut the stag from brown textured cardstock that has also been in my cupboard for over a decade! I cut the trees from green cardstock and the birch trees from white. I added a little shading to the birch trees, but that was pretty much the only ink that I used!

I die cut the snowmounds from glitter cardstock and adhered that to my base and then arranged the elements for the scene within it. I had die-cut a circular frame for my scene and added that. All that was required was to die-cut the sentiment and then adhere it to the front of my globe.

Here’s my card:

I used a background die from Waffle Flower called Dashed Snowflake to add some texture. The base of the globe was popped up with foam squares to give it a little depth and distance from the top of the globe.

I’ll be back tomorrow with another card. In the meantime, warm hugs and prayers for those of you who need a little lift tonight.

Card recipe:

  • Snow globe: Simon’s Snow Globe, Woodland Scene – Spellbinders
  • Background die: Dashed Snowflake – Waffle Flower

Hugs

  1. Jaydee! I do LOve an all-die-cut card and your sweet little snow globe is a wonderful representation of Verena’s Sketch this week! I adore that snowflake coverplate – it adds SO much to a card base without messing around with the gorgeous white space, doesn’t it?
Thanks so much for joining us at FMS again!
