Happy Tuesday.
Yellow isn’t a color I use often on cards, but I saw this Colorful Options challenge for April where the challenge is to feature yellow and thought it was about time I got out of my comfort zone! I remembered the sketch across at Sunday Stamps and thought that my Pooh dies in a jar of honey would work perfectly for the sketch and the color challenges!
Here’s a sneak peek:

I think you can see that I used some of my Glossy Accents, too! I mean, hunny has to be oooey and gooey, right?! 🙂
Here are the challenge badges:

I began my card with the background. I used an old (I mean VERY old) Tim Holtz stencil to create the honeycomb. I then die-cut Pooh from some yellow cardstock and blended darker yellow on him for contrast. I die-cut the hunny jar in kraft and added brown to it. I then die-cut and colored the bees and added some vellum wings. Lastly I added the sentiment. Once the card was assembled I added Glossy Accents to the hunny to give it some shimmer and shine.
Here’s my full card:

Such a super cute image. Pooh was one of my favorite characters as a child along with Noddy. In fact Noddy is the perfect example of how I have always appreciated the ridiculous. I remember one night I was reading in bed (I was probably about 6) and was laughing so loud (even though I was supposed to be asleep!) that I woke my mother who arrived to find me with my Noddy book rolling around hysterically on the bed. Noddy had done his washing and was told to go and hang is clothes on the clothes horse (remember those things???). Anyway, Noddy being Noddy he heard only part of the story, and the story continues with Noddy running around the field with his washing trying to capture his horse, Dapple so that he could dry his washing! 🙂
Anyway, I’ll be back later in the week with another card. In the meantime, warm hugs and prayers for those of you who need a little lift tonight.
Card recipe:
- Dies: Pooh and Piglet – Spellbinders
- Stencil: Honeycomb – Tim Holtz
- Sentiment: Honey Comb Haven – Altenew
Hugs
