Happy Saturday.
It’s my pleasure to Guest Design across at As You See It Challenge this week. I was thrilled to be invited to be the GD after my win with this card.
I was so happy when I saw the challenge from Heather as it forces me to use a color I so rarely use. TBH I have no idea why I don’t use it more often!
I decided my Alex Syberia Hugs in Bloom set would work for the floral elements and went looking for a bold sentiment and decided to use one from The Greetery called Scripted Sentiments. Here’s a sneak peek:

So, I’m guessing you saw that yellow is the main color :-). Here’s the challenge for this week:

For the shades of yellow I went from gold to pale yellow all the way through to a mid yellow. I was tempted to go as deep as an orange, but decided I liked the colors as they were.
I hot foiled and then colored my Hugs in Bloom image using the matching stencil. I die cut the image and added a couple of blank die cuts behind the main image. So that covered 1. florals, 2. shades of yellow and 3. die cuts!
It took me quite a while to get just the right sentiment and layout. I can’t tell you how many different background colors I tried before settling on a soft grey for the focal layer and then white for the card base. The black sentiment needed something to ground it, so I decided to use my Spellbinders Essential Arches to create an arched card and give me a black arch to create a mat between the fog layer and the card base. The addition of the black arch helped ground the black sentiment and not make it shout so loudly!
The last thing I had to do was add a couple of enamel dots and decided to stick with yellow so as not to detract too much from the focal image.
I played around with the layout and placement of the sentiment and then secured my die cut sentiment with some slivers of foam tape.
Here’s my full card:

In the end I was glad I had chosen the arched card as I think it works well with the arch of the florals and the sentiment.
As a reminder, the winner of the As You See It challenge this week will be invited to Guest Design with this very talented team for a future challenge. I can highly recommend it 🙂
I’ll be back tomorrow with another card. In the meantime warm hugs and prayers for those of you who need a little lift tonight.
