Happy Saturday.
I managed to get to play in my craft room again today …. and… finish a card! I did have two starts before I found the right direction, so am thinking that my mojo might not have gone walkabout, but it does appear to have developed a disappearing habit! Anyway, I found some inspiration across at As You See It. The team is asking you to share your favorite embossing folder. Mmmmm… Now, I have several that are my favorites, but this one holds a special place in my crafting stash. I mean, when you are married to a pasta-devouring-monster Italian, this embossing folder has significance.
To meet the challenge I had to make the embossing folder stand out as much as I could. Here’s a sneak peek:

And here’s the challenge badge from As You See It:

So.. my favorite embossing folder is Al Dente from Spellbinders. I am obsessed with the different types of pasta they managed to get onto this embossing folder. Macaroni, rigatoni, ravioli, farfalle, rigatoni, rotini, penne, rotelle, conchiglie, cavatappi… I think that’s all of them! Regardless, it’s pretty darned cool. And, if I didn’t know the names of all of these different pasta, I think Lou would divorce me 🙂
I began my card with the embossed base. I then colored it with red, orange and yellow inks as I really wanted the shapes on the base to stand out. I mean, they do an amazing job of standing out on their own, but a little color always helps!
I then die cut the pasta bowl, spaghetti, tomato sauce, fork and the single strand of spaghetto for the fork. I added stripes for the Italian flag and adhered everything together. The Concord and 9th Lotsa Pasta makes it so easy to create all of these things.
I added a sentiment from the Spellbinders Stay Saucy sentiment set. I embossed it with white on black as I needed something to ground the pasta bowl. Once everything was ready, I added the bowl, sentiment and fork to the card base and my card was complete.
Here’s my full card:

When I showed this card to Lou he looked at me as though I had lost my mind. “Are you kidding? Share pasta? NEVER!” He said. OK then. Note to self. Don’t come between Lou and his pasta. Mind you, I’ve already learned that lesson!
Now, I’m hungry! Off to make dinner. :-). I’ll be back tomorrow with my Paper Players card. In the meantime, warm hugs and prayers for those of you who need a little lift tonight.
