Happy Sunday.
It’s my turn to host our Paper Players challenge this week and it’s color week. I put together a fun summery selection of colors and, because I am the most contrary person, created a Christmas card! I pulled out a set I got on sale at Spellbinders called Delivering Joy and paired that with a fun embossing folder called Ski Lodge. I have no idea why I am attracted to non-traditional Christmas colors right now – it has to be the warm weather:-)
Here’s a sneak peek:

And here’s our challenge badge for this week. As a reminder – neutrals are always welcome in addition to the colors in our badge:

Initially I thought of florals with these colors, then I thought of a seascape with colorful fish, but no, I went with Santa’s sleigh full of bright presents!
I began my card by running a piece of Mint Macaron cardstock through my Sizzix with the Ski Lodge embossing folder. I love all of this rich detail!
I then die-cut each of the individual elements from the sleigh and the presents and assembled them. I used bronze metallic as my neutral color and that was for the metal elements of the sleigh, the bows and tags.
Once all the pieces were die-cut I arranged them and adhered everything together. I popped up the sleigh from the card base with some foam tape.
Here’s my full card:

As always, the design team have some fabulous inspiration for you:
On a personal note:
Well, I am pleased that we have been spared the insanely hot weather that many around the world have been experiencing. We’ve been lucky to be in the 80s and have had plenty of rain. Mind you, the humidity has been enough to keep me from spending too much time outdoors, so have retreated to the cool of my craft room. My room is 99% complete and all the organization is set. The space works really well for me. All I am missing now is some mojo. I have no idea where it has been the last few weeks, but I have thrown away about 10x the cards I have managed to complete. I think maybe I need to do something else creative for a couple of weeks to see if my mojo comes back!
I’ll be back later in the week with another card. In the meantime, warm hugs and prayers for those of you who need a little lift tonight.
Card recipe:
- Dies: Delivering Joy – Spellbinders
- Embossing Folder: Ski Lodge – Spellbinders
Hugs

Your card was such an unexpected use of these colours Jaydee – and I LOVE it! Your sleigh full of gifts is choc full of die cut detail and the background embossed design adds the perfect festive base. The bronze metallic rails and tag sentiment are just the icing on the cake – gorgeous! We are on our third summer heatwave here – I am seriously considering installing air conditioning if this is the state of things to come – my craft room is like an oven!!
Cute card! I love the sleigh! Spellbinders has such nicely detailed dies! Thanks for sharing!
Great card, Jaydee. I had to get that embossing folder – thanks for the inspiration/enabling! 🙂
Amazing! I love the use of your e/f, the texture couldn’t be better with the pastels and shimmery metallics. This card is truly amazing!
Jaydee, am I the only one who doesn’t know where your gorgeous mint macaron paper comes from? I have been known to live under a rock! What a gorgeous color – and color combo! I’m hoping to play along – fingers crossed I find my own mojo!

Your mojo looks just fine to me—that sleigh and all the presents are AMAZING! Fabulous background too! I cannot imagine how long it took to assemble all of this, but it is a work of art!
I’m so glad you’re a contrary person who can choose summery colours then use them for a Christmas card. Once again, a perfect way round the Southern Hemisphere hot Christmas dilemma! I love the elegant feel of this design – and who doesn’t love a sleigh full of goodies? 🙂
I feel for you Jaydee – losing your mojo is so disheartening. However, it certainly was strong when you created this gorgeous card! That sleigh is fabulous and I love all the presents piled high within. The embossed background is perfect too, a great soft green that doesn’t overshadow the main image. So, so lovely!
This is a gorgeous Christmas card, Jaydee! I like the shades you chose of the challenge colors and that embossing folder is so cool. I know what you mean about feeling uninspired–I think it happens to all artists sometimes! Hope you’re feeling inspired again soon. Thanks for a fun challenge this week and stay cool!
STUNNING! The beautiful Christmas card is amazing! I love the embossed background and that fun sleigh filled with gifts is fabulous! I love the colors you selected for this challenge. You always amaze me–creating this in the middle of summer is genius. The bronze metallic adds such a pop! I LOVE IT! Hope you are having a great week, My Friend!
WOW! The color of this card base and its embossing are exquisite! The sleigh full of presents, accented by the poinsettia, is such a wonderful use of the challenge colors. Your card is amazing and shows no lack of mojo. I LOVE it! Thank you for the fun color challenge. Have a wonderful weekend!
