In my post yesterday I mentioned the fact that the stencils in the Brighter Days onlinecard class were double sized. I hadn’t seen anything like that before, but really liked the idea that you could stencil across the front and back of the card, or create two card fronts from the same stencil.
So, today I’ll showcase some of the cards we made when using the double stencils and also show you a photo of what they look like.
Firstly here are the cards:
This first card came from Yana’s class. Yana always seems to use really bright colors with strong contrast and this card was no exception. Here’s the front of the card made using the rainbow stencils, as well as the cloud and sun stencils. The sentiment is from the Easier and Brighter stamp and die bundle.
Here’s the view showing the back and the front of the card:
Seriously, who wouldn’t like to receive this bright and cheerful card that looks as good from the back as it does from the front. This card took a lot of ink blending time, and is way outside of my comfort zone, but I really enjoyed the final result.
This next card used the cloud and sun stencils and was much more muted, but I still love the fact that the image goes back and front.
These next two cards were created using the practice background we created in the first class. Kristina was showing us how the stencils worked and we ended up with this great background. I cut the 8.5 x 5.5 panel that we created into two card fronts and added a sentiment I had in my stash.
The rainbow stencils are each numbered and the stripes spaced wide apart so that you can add ink without worrying about going into the next color.
Each of the stencil sets comes with a guide showing you the full stencils. Kristina has also provided color suggestions for each part of the rainbow on the guide. Each stencil is used on a piece of cardstock sized at 8.5×5.5
Here’s the cloud and raindrop stencils:
The raindrop stencil shows the position for the umbrella that comes in the stamp and die-set. The umbrella has been placed on the suggestion guide to show the suggested position of the stencil. The cloud and sun set is such fun and it forced me to get over the fact that I would never use some of the colors from the class on a card. If I hadn’t attended the class I would never have used bright pink, but that’s the great thing about classes. They force us out of our comfort zone and we sometimes get surprised by how fun the results are!
There were a couple of other cards made using the full stencil. One of which is still to be shown on my blog:-). There were also another couple that I didn’t replicate.
I really did love the idea of the double stencil, especially as it’s really easy to use them on a single card sheet just by masking off the other area. Well, that’s all for me today.
