Happy Sunday!
It's the fabulous Joanne's turn to host our Paper Players challenge this week and this is her theme:
Well…… because I try to create my challenge cards ahead of schedule, I've ended up with two cards in consecutive weeks that use the same stamp set!!! Mind you, this week the colors are different 🙂
I stamped and fussy cut the shell elements and adhered them to the base with foam tape. I used the background stamp to help anchor the shells and added the sentiment.
Here's my card:
I used a purple ink for the sentiment as I decided black or grey just wouldn't feel right. I hope you will join us and play along with Joanne's challenge. As always, the design team have some fabulous inspiration for you:
On a personal note:
Hot. Humid. Dry. Smoke-filled. How else can I describe the weather? We are under hazardous air quality conditions because of the fires in Canada and the humid, air with very little wind, means that we are going to be like this for a few more days. It's been so dry that our flowers just can't flower and the birds are drinking regularly from our bird baths. We've had temps into the high 90s with excessive heat warnings again and the temps are at least 15 degrees higher than average. Add to that, it's been going on for nearly 2 months! I'm beginning to think that Mother Nature tried to tell us something with COVID, but we weren't listening so she's on a scorched earth policy instead!
The only place I could go to avoid the heat today was my craft room. As I was all caught up on challenge commitments, I was able to sit and make a couple of cards – just for the fun of it! I really enjoyed playing with some new goodies and can't wait to share the results with you later in the week.
The Robin's have just finished fledging their second set of babies this year. The last one finally left the nest this morning. I have a couple of photos for you – but, because they were shot thru the screens, they aren't clear…. but first, a shot of the last baby trying to decide whether it really wanted to leave it's comfy, cozy, nest. The great thing about having the frosting is that we can see everything that's going on, but the birds aren't scared.
There were thre babies in the nest again. The first one left the nest on Thursday. The second one early this morning and then the last one at around lunch time. Here's the silhouette of the last one:
Mom and Dad did everything they could to try to convince it that it REALLY was time to leave the nest. In the end, they decided not to feed as regularly as normal, and managed to entice baby with a mouthful of worms. It was obviously hungry enough, that it decided it was going to jump to get the food! Here's Dad with a mouthful of juicy worms. I'm sorry the photo isn't in focus, but I couldn't go out of the front door because I didn't want to scare the baby!
They really have been amazing parents! We feel so blessed to have been able to watch from the egg laying, to the egg turning, to the little babies heads popping up from the base of the best, to flying off. I noticed in the photo below that the catbird is sitting with one of the juvenile robins that were part of the group that flew the coop earlier this summer.
You can see he's a juvenile because of all his stripes! It makes me smile just looking at it! He did give the catbird first option at the feeder, so his parents had taught him manners, too 🙂

No matter how many times you use this set, I’ll love what you create! So pretty! And how fun to see the juvenile robin…the first time I saw one, I had to look it up, wasn’t sure WHAT it was! Hope your air clears soon!
