Sailing Home and Come Sail Away for Just Add Ink #512

Happy Tuesday.

I have a card for you toinght featuring one of my favorite Stampin' Up! sets – Sailing Home.  The sketch across at Just Add Ink is an usual one and just screamed "use lots of DSP" at me!

So, as it was screaming use lots of DSP, being a well-brought up young lady (HA!) I obeyed :-)  I used 3 different DSPs from the Come Sail Away DSP (another set I'm hoarding) and cut them to fit the sketch.  For the central element, I cut a circle in white and popped it onto a Night of Navy circle.  I stamped the sentiment and 3 seagulls and then added the lighthouse from the Sailing Home set.

Here's my card:

Sailing Home Come Sail Away (1 of 1)

This is another card that will be going in the next batch of cards for seniors.  I spent time this weekend making masculine cards, as I lean much more to feminine cards and this set – and paper – really does work so well for masculine cards.

I will be back tomorrow with another card, but have a wildlife photo to share before I sign off.  I caught this shot of two female grosbeak at the feeders.  They really are amazing birds and are so different to their very bright and beautiful male counterparts.  Mind you, I do think the females are just as beautiful, but in a totally different way.

Female Grosbeak (1 of 1)-4

I'll be back tomorrow.  In the meantime, warm hugs and prayers for those of you who need a little lift tonight.

Hugs

Jaydee

  1. You’ve inspired me to get out my nautical paper and actually do something with it.
What kind of grosbeaks are they? Not evening grosbeaks. Oh, I’ve just answered my own question–rose-breasted. I love them. I remember my mom teaching me their name many decades ago when we lived on the farm. We were hanging clothes on the line and one came to a nearby tree. I was amazed at the pretty colours.

  2. The card is great!! I think I will mess it up when cutting the triangles of the DSP. The top, no problem, the triangles . . . hummmm! Love the card!

  3. Linda, there was so much nostalgia in my heart as I was reading your comment. the thought of standing hanging washing on a line with your Mom…. growing up on the farm…. your first view of the grosbeak… they all took me to a warm place in my childhood. thanks for making me smile – oh… and glad you are going to use that DSP now!

  4. Thanks Jaydee!!! Afterwards I thought it had been a silly question . . . about the triangles. You have encouraged me. Thanks again!
