Prized Peony and Peony Garden for Cupcake Inspirations, Double Trouble and Global Design Project

Happy Wednesday.

YAY… HUMP DAY and we are on countdown to the weekend!  For today's post I have another card made using one of my favorite sets from the new Stampin' Up! catty – Prized Peony Bundle and Peony Garden DSP.  I don't often get to combine three challenges into one card, but the teams across at Cupcake Inspiration and Double Trouble have paired up for their challenges this week.  I saw a fabulous card across at Global Design Projects – where it's case the designer week and all three of them came together in a single card!

I was inspired by the single flower, the green and bronze leaves, the turquoise sentiment and the twine.

I went straight down the middle summer, flowers, die-cut/punch

I was very selective about my new catty purchases this year and bought very few sets (which is why you keep seeing them make an appearance!)  I went through the catalog multiple times and kept making lists – trying not to be influenced by other lists that I had made.  In the end, I looked through the lists and compared them and bought the sets that made each list!  The Peony Suite was #1 on all 4 lists!  I love the bold flower, I love the DSP and I am pretty addicted to using it.

Here's my card.  I think you can see the inspiration from the GDP case card.  I loved the mix of the bronze and green leaves on the flower, so colored the outer edges of the leaves in bronze and the rest in green.  I also loved the unexpected turquoise sentiment, so used an Altenew Label stamp to replicate the feel of it.  I couldn't get a bow to work, but used some twine around the bottom of the focal layer.  It helped ground the flower – and the sentiment.

As the Double Trouble and Cupcake challenges asked for bling…. I added some bling with a gold foil leaf tucked behind the stamped leaves and also added 3 gems from the same Peony Suite.

I tried putting it on a Petal Pink base – but it really needed the white to make it pop.  Pity the light was so low when I took the photograph!  It doesn't show up the gold leaf well at all.

On a personal note:

In the 90s again today and humid.  We have had rain over the last couple of days so the mosquitoes are out in full force and the rains brought the humidity.  The birds have been visiting the bird bath and fountain to cool off and get a drink.  Our butterfly/bee garden is almost in full flower at the front, but the woodland is still a couple of weeks away.  Ill take some photos of the flowers this week to share with you this weekend.

In the meantime, I thought you might like to see what has been visiting the feeder.  We are in the process of finishing up the deck (it will look very different by the end of this weekend) – but we caught Rocky taking a wonder across the deck to the jelly feeder.  I took this photo through the screened door.  She/he wasn't sure whether I really meant "leave the jelly alone"…. so she took a couple more steps… the smell of the jelly was waaaay too enticing.  So, I had to open the screen door and chase her back down!

Racoon (1 of 1)

I thought she might come back, so I sat down on the chair and waited…. Sure enough about 10 minutes later I heard the patter of little feet coming up the stairs.  Actually, it was our grand-old dame (she's 19) Muffin who let me know that Rocky was there…. I heard this little meow from behind the screened in door – and caught her mid-meow…. I turned to my right…. and Rocky was doing an about turn.  (Excuse the deck railing -Lou was mid-sanding reading it for re-painting!)

Rocky (1 of 1)

I think that is what they call "exit stage right" in the theatre :-)  They really are the most amazing animals.  We had caught her a couple of days earlier, washing her paws in the bird bath after she had eaten jelly… just like a kid!

I'll be back tomorrow with another card.  In the meantime, warm hugs and prayers for those of you who need a little lift tonight.

Hugs

Jaydee
