Hi Everyone. Happy Sunday night and welcome to Jaydee's SU stampin' space.
A quick post for you tonight and tomorrow I will be providing you more details on the Blog Candy #2 contents. Some of you have already let me know that you will be participating in the card collection in order to be entered to win your very own Big Shot. I'm very grateful to those of you who have already let me know, and hope that some of my other readers will join us. As a reminder, we are looking to collect cards for children at Hopesandhugs.org and for troops to send home at fromourhearts. All I need is at least 10 cards for either organization and you will be entered into the draw.
Today I got the chance to play around with my new goodies. I'm so impressed with my new purchases that I was really inspired. I saw the Abundant Hope set in the new mini and was blown away by it. It's even nicer in real life! I also got the clear mount option for this set and am loving the new acrylic blocks. I love the fact that I get the same quality stamped image that I always get with my SU stamps and get to save on storage and cash. If you already have acrylic blocks, you should find that they work for the new clear mount stamp option. Otherwise, SU sells individual blocks, or a block of blocks 🙂
I'm really looking forward to spring – and was, therefore, drawn to create a spring card. It's been so cold for so long here, that, when it got to 7 degrees yesterday, I was running around thinking it was time for people to be wearing shorts! 🙂 Now you know I've been living in Minnesota too long!
For the card tonight, I used the sketch challenge from the team at stamping411. The sketch leaves you so much room for interpretation that I think it's great for just about any sort of card!
I took a shot of the card from a slightly lower angle than I normally would, because I wanted you to be able to see where I had pieced the flowers over the original. Sometimes it's really hard to see that, but I found that when I went a little lower with my camera, I could show you that, and also that I had lifted the wings of the butterflies.
I love this stamp – have I told you that already 🙂 I used multiple new items on this card for you. So let me tell you how I built it.
Card recipe
- Certainly Celery, So Saffron and Whisper White card stock
- DSP from the new Shades of Spring pack in the new mini (117160)
- Butterflies are from the new Beautiful Wings embosslits die (118138)
- Ribbon is the Whisper White taffeta ribbon (109070) (don't you love the bow on this card :-)?)
- The sentiment "Happy Easter" is from the Well Scripted set (118601 – clear mount and 117072 – wood mount)
- I used my wide oval punch to punch out the sentiment
- I used my So Saffron and Always Artichoke markers… I wanted the Green to be a slightly darker shade than the Certainly Celery on the card. Jaydee tip: I used my markers for the flowers, as I wanted the Yellow and Green on the set. However, I wanted slightly more definition in the central parts of the flowers and I found that marking up my stamp with my marker allowed me to place a little more emphasis of ink where I needed it. In contrast, if I had decided to stamp twice – once with just the green (and used the masking technique) and then again with the So Saffron ink….. I didn't get the same amount of emphasis and shading on the flower.
- All that was left was to run my embosslit through my Big Shot, using the same paper I had used for the background. Also, following the rule of uneven numbers…. the embosslit actually gives you 4 butterflies of the size I wanted (the bigger one was too big for this card)… so I did a 5th one by running my embosslit through again – and keeping the other butterflies in an old embossing powder bottle…. now I feel like a lepidotporist!
- All that was left was to assemble the card and stamp the inside. Trish… I'm sorry, I didn't photograph the inside for you tonight… but I have some cards coming up where I have 🙂
I hope you like the little shot of spring for tonight's card.
Have a fabulous Monday everyone… me…. I'm having dental surgery, so I guess you know how I'm feeling!!!!
As always… thank you so much for spending time in my little area of the stamping blogosphere – and don't forget – if you are interested in Blog Candy #1… all you need to do is leave a comment to be entered into the draw.
Cyber hugs
Jaydee

I was debating about getting this crocus set. I am glad to have a sample using it and I love the butterflies with it. I am a new reader of your blog and sure love it so far. Good luck with your dental work.
I love the butterflies! Hopefully spring will soon be on its way for you. 7 degrees! Is the sun shining?
I’m catching up on my blogs today and of course had to stop by. I love the colors in the card and it is so interesting because just looking at the stamp didn’t thrill me but when I see how you used it, it just is beautiful. I got a chance to use markers to ink a stamp this weekend and I’m in love.
Gorgeous card !!!
Simply beautiful! Love the colors and all your butterflies!
Hope the surgery went well…..
Thanks for playing with the 411 this week!
I love how you popped up the flowers. It really makes this beautiful card even more spectacular. Thanks for playing along.
Beautiful! Love how you “popped” up the flowers. So pretty. I also want to get this image in the future. Very pretty.
Oh my, Spring colors, so refreshing to see. I love this card and stamp set. I am getting this stamp set this month when I place an order. The colors that you chose are simply the best together. I like how you propped up the flower on dimensionals and I love your coloring. I do like the ribbon, how did you do that bow? It is so petite and sweet. Would also look lovely on a Baby Card. So sorry to hear about your dental surgery. I have been there before and it aint no fun. I feel for you and will say a little prayer that you don’t hurt for too long. Use lots and lots of ice and don’t talk. Take your pain meds and just try to sleep. It will all be over soon enough. I had a bone spur removed from my jaw and they had to go in through my upper gums. Ouch, that one was a killer. I then developed what are known as air pockets and had to keep going back. But it all healed eventually and we are nothing worse for having it done. I will miss your post, but mostly hope that you heal fast. I hope that Lou will be home to take care of you and not off on Business. Talk to you soon.

I was looking at the 411 posts this morning… When I opened the screen and saw your gorgeous card, it literally took my breath away! Thanks for sharing your talents… Wow this is awesome.
I love this card. It is perfect as an Easter card. Thanks for the inspiration.
7 or 8 degrees and shorts you made me laugh as we would be “freezing”. We are having lots of rain here which makes my cats really naughty as they don’t burn off much energy outside so they play catch up and down the passage.
I hope your dental surgery goes well and you recover quickly.
Regards
Alison
Your card is absolutely stunning! So perfect! I LOVE it! and everything about it. especially the butterflies and the way you made the flowers pop. Going into my favorites for sure!
Wonderful card done with that set! Great job (and hope all is well with the dental surgery!)
Thanks for playing along with Stamping 411 this week!
Love it Jaydee! The butterflies look like they are flying off the card.
Daffodils are my absolute favorite flower. I grew up in MN and their lovely heads were some of the first flowers to be seen through the snow. Then I got breast cancer and I was sent a couple bouquets of them ~ they certainly cheer up a room. Your card is stunning and this will be my favorite set to keep for a long time. Thanks for sharing your art work with us.
