Happy Wednesday.
There is a fabulous color challenge across at Cupcake Inspirations this week and I couldn’t wait to play along. It’s so rare that I use cream colored cardstock, but this was the perfect challenge to do exactly that. I paired the cardstock with a hot foiled tulip colored in peachy tones using a set from Alex Syberia called Tulip Treasures that I got on sale!
Here’s a sneak peek:

I also used a die from Altenew called Piped Waffle to create the background and a circle cut from vellum using the Stampin’ Up! Spotlight on Nature dies.
Here’s the color challenge from Cupcake:

Now, to be honest, I’m not a baked goods kind of person. I know… how crazy is that? Genetically I am more likely to eat something savory than a cake/pie/muffin, etc. However, looking at this cupcake makes me think I could make an exception! It also took me back decades to when a good friend of mine called Scott was running a class teaching coding. He decided to bring the ingredients in for an orange cake to illustrate how important all pieces were when you were coding. Luckily there was a full kitchen on the premises. So, you can imagine this set of 2nd year college students being presented with partial instructions for making an orange cake. They had to try to work out between them which pieces were meant to go together and then they baked the cake.
I can honestly say that the only cake worth eating was the one that Scott himself baked. Heavens that cake was as light as a feather and rich in orange taste. The rest… well…. let’s say the students learned a lessons they will never forget 🙂
Anyway, I digress! I hot foiled the tulip with gold foil and then u sed the stencils to color in the tulip. I die-cut a piece of cardstock using the Piped Waffle die and used that as a stencil for the background. I then die-cut a large circle from vellum and assembled all the elements and placed them on the card base. I added a few matte gold splatters for a little added interest.
I pulled out some pearls and added those to the card and finished it with the sentiment. Here’s my full card:

I am in love with this large voluptous tulip and glad that I was able to bring out some of my cream colored cardstock! I really need to use my hot foil machine more often 🙂
I’ll be back later in the week with another card. In the meantime, warm hugs and prayers for those of you who need a little lift tonight.
