Hi Everyone. Happy Sunday.
Quick post for you tonight.
I saw this great sketch across at freshlymade and decided I had to play along!
I wanted to make a masculine card… something I find pretty hard to do. I also wanted to add a love element to it, without hearts. Mmmm…. So, I pulled out my Artistic Etchings and, together with some of my favorite Mocha Morning DSP… I think I came up with something I quite like!
Card contents – all Stampin' Up! unless otherwise noted:
- Card stock: Early Espresso, Gold Metallic, Very Vanilla (under the vellum sentiment)
- Stamps: Artistic Etchings. Sentiment: Vintage Picnic Sentiments (PTI)
- DSP: Mocha Morning. First Edition.
- Inks: Early Espresso, StazOn Black, Soft Suede, Crumb Cake, Sahara Sand. I distressed the First Edition with Tea Stain to stop it being such a bright vanilla.
So, I think it's masculine. Lou will be pleased that there is no ribbon to be found anywhere. He really has an issue with masculine cards and ribbon. I thought a button and a little baker's twine was OK 🙂
Why don't you pop along to FreshlyMade and check out the fabulous design team and submission cards.
On a personal note:
Well… we have 7 weeks until we have to move and as of this morning we had packed no boxes, sorted nothing out and have not organized the handyman to come and do all the little fix up things. Nor have we ordered new carpet or ANYTHING…. In fact. NOTHING! Aaaaaarrrrggghhh :-) Of course, my dear hubby does what he always does when things need doing – he left town for two weeks. Mmmmmm….
Anyway, I was in the middle of making a card and had a panic attack and decided that I REALLY needed to go start some packing. So, between cards I taped up some boxes and started to pack. I promised myself that I could only make a card IF I had packed a box. I made 4 cards… and packed 4 boxes :-) Well, it's 4 more than I had packed this morning, right :-) I know that I am going to have to knuckle down and start getting this stuff done. It seems to have snuck up on us so quickly.
The house is taking shape… really taking shape. They were sheetrocking this week and when we went there yesterday they were about 3/4 done hanging the sheetrock. I thought you might want to see a couple photographs of the progress.
Here's a look at the shower in the master bedroom…. I really wanted a rain shower… and got one… you can see that they haven't finished hanging sheetrock here yet
The one thing that really struck us when we went into the house yesterday is how bright it is inside. Considering it was a pretty dull day and the windows had plastic on them – and half the window was covered up with sheetrock stacked up against it….. it was pretty light in the family room.
Sheetrocking mostly hung in this area. They won't start on the fitted cabinets until the wooden floors are in, but it's certainly beginning to feel like a house.
When I uploaded the photographs I noticed something…. for every picture I took of a room…. I took 3 of the view from that room! Guess I like the view, huh?
Here's a view from one of the sunroom windows. We will be building a patio area just in front of the plastic… we can't wait.
Well…. the view is the reason we decided to build this house….. so I suppose it's good that we are still so in love with it 🙂
I hope you have all had a wonderful weekend and that you have a fabulous Monday. Warm hugs and prayers to those of you who need a little lift tonight. As always, thank you so much for spending time in my little area of the stamping blogosphere.
Hugs
Jaydee

Oo. I do like that sketch, and your card certainly looks masculine to me! Brien has the same no ribbon on a masculine card thing. I truly struggle with masculine cards and love to see what others create. I really like the way you have used the DSP in both a vertical and horizontal orientation, and the textured card stock is wonderful. :o)
Boxes? The thing I hate most about moving is the packing and unpacking. UGH! I’m one of those horrible people who will take a day or two to unpack the entire the house in a go. I’m afraid I do the same when packing. I get into a frenzy and just start going. More often than not, my “donate” pile just grows and grows. I will say I don’t envy you the packing.
However, the house and the view? Yes, that I DO envy you. All that packing and moving is totally worth it. :o) The house is really coming together and you’re right, the amount of light in there is incredible. You guys and the kitties are going to be SO happy there! :o)
Lou, wishing you safe and uneventful travels!
Hugs!
I like that idea of making a card and packing a box! That’s good motivation! Your card is so beautiful, Jaydee! Mocha Morning is the perfect touch with that stamp set. Actually that paper can do no wrong, in my book…it is so sophisticated and elegant. Your home is coming along very nicely, too. That view is amazing!
Ps: I’m chuckling at Lou’s dislike of ribbon on masculine cards. My husband says the same thing. Haha!
Very masculine card. I always have such a hard time since I always want to add a touch of bling. Sounds like our hubbies could get together on their card likes. My hubby just hates the buttons. I don’t know why, he just doesn’t see the point. He’s such an engineer.
Thanks for sharing pics of your new place. It’s really coming along. So much to think about & do though, isn’t there? Looks like you’re have such a beautiful view from the whole back of your house. Hope your cats enjoy their new digs. Is there room for your camel?
I LOVE this card! LOVE the collage stamping on the DSP. Awesome! 🙂
Love this man card Jaydee … you’ve really put this one together beautifully – love that DSP and love the images!
Thanks for joining us this week at Freshly Made Sketches!!!
Love it … of course what else could I ever say? You always come up with the nicest cards.
Oh the house is certainly coming together and the light is wonderful. Packing is not a chore of mine neither, but it will be so worth it. Should I be scheduling a trip to the house before you move to see what you are selling?
Have a great week!
I love the card. Great layout!
Your house is going to be fabulous.
But the big news is…Baby Lucy Victoria arrived over the weekend! After a 23 hours labor, she arrived Csection and weighed in at 8lbs, 9 oz and 21 inches long! Healthy-thank the Lord. My daughter is recovering and we are looking forward to going to CA Saturday and staying for 10 days to help the new mama and daddy and baby! This is one excited Grandma!
Hi Jaydee! Beautiful view and handsome card!! It sure is fun to see pictures of your new home. I think you came up with a wonderful idea to pack a box and make a card. I struggle with packing too. Good luck to you with that chore. Have a wonderful Monday!
Thanks for the updates on the house, Jaydee. Gosh, I hadn’t realized how quickly the move is coming. So exciting! I can’t wait to see what the view looks like in the coming seasons, what wildlife comes to call, and what you and Lou will do with the outside. I know there will be a fountain somewhere. 🙂
Great masculine card and I’m really falling in love with the DP you used! So pretty – and yes, it can be pretty even if it’s for a guy!
The house is coming along great – can’t wait to see the final pics of it! Know you’re going to love every inch of it.

What a super masculine card! Love those colors. The house pictures are awesome! Glad to see you this week at Freshly Made Sketches!
Love the Mocha Morning w/ the First Edition! Great card as always. 🙂 How exciting to see the new pictures of the house. I always hate packing, but it is always nice to get rid of some clutter along the way. Thanks for joining us at Freshly Made Sketches.
