Backyard Party for Paper Players #478

Hi Everyone.  Happy Sunday.

It's my turn to host the Paper Players clean and simple challenge this week and it's theme week:

I decided to pull out an old set from Ellen Hutson called Backyard Party.  I'm still making cards for SendaSmile4Kids, and this set is idea for that.  I paired the stamped images with a background of woodgrain card stock from Altenew.  I had fun coloring the images and created a balloon out of vellum.

Here's my card:

Backyard Party (1 of 1)

I love this little pirate…… he frequents us regularly in summer.  We see much less of him during winter, but did catch him out and about this last week.  Obviously, he must have been hungry to be out in such cold!

I hope you will join us and play along this week.  As usual, the design team have some fabulous inspiration for you:

On a personal note:

It's been bitterly cold this week – down to -32 degrees.  I really have no idea how the little birds survive the extremes of temperature.  They love the cypress trees we planted.  They really do give them somewhere to huddle in this cold weather.  One of our regular visitors has been the Opossum…. I knew he'd visited us one morning after a fresh fall of snow…..

Nothing has a back foot track like the Opossum and his little opposable toe!  Heavens knows what he was doing on the deck and I wish I had been there to see him if he had encountered one of the cats!

I took this next shot after a soft, fluffy snowfall.  I love the look of the lanterns and the shadow from the metal deer

Freshly Fallen Snow (1 of 1)

I did manage to capture a shot of the deer pig-rooting under the bird feeder. Some of the birds, including the Blue Jay, scatter seed looking for a specific one on the tray table.  It means that the deer, Opossum, Racoon and squirrels have something to eat.

I'll be back later with another card.  In the meantime, warm hugs and prayers for those of you who need a little lift today.

Hugs

Jaydee

  1. That little raccoon image is too cute and I love his bright green eyes! The woodgrain embossing is the perfect accent, too. Look at all of that freshly fallen snow. Wow! Your little opossum friend looks like he’s stopping by for regular visits. Those tracks are so distinctive. Always enjoy seeing your photos from your yard, my friend.

  2. I know the kids will adore this card, so perfect. And your photos…oh my goodness the snow is beautiful. I still have my snowmen up waiting for snow but I don’t think it is going to happen here in VA. So I will just enjoy yours. Thanks.

  3. Love that little raccoon, sitting on his tree stump…the background embossing is perfect! And of course, I love seeing your photos of all the REAL wildlife critters in your yard…fascinating!

  4. It’s raccoon party time and your cutie is all set to go! He looks great popped up on the tree stump and the balloon out of vellum is such a clever idea Jaydee. As always, it’s a joy to see your outdoor photos.

  5. Jaydee, this is such a FUN challenge! There are some amazing cards in the gallery! Your little Ranger Rick is adorable! His vellum is so pretty! I love his green eyes and the wood grained embossed background! WOW—look at all the snow! SO beautiful, but oh too cold for me. Mr. Opossum must be hungry. He thought you might have left him a treat! XX

  6. Love that sweet little racoon Jaydee all ready to party – the embossed wood background really makes this card! Lovely pictures from the garden too – and so much snow!! Take care and keep warm!
