Be Mine Valentine for PP231

Hi Everyone.  Happy Sunday.

It's the fabulous Nance's turn to host our Paper Players challenge this week and she has a rocking color challenge for us.

I knew that it was about time I created a Valentine's card for Lou… so, Lou, if you are reading this… stop reading and move on 🙂

Calypso Coral is one of my least favorite – ever – SU colors.  I don't know why I don't like it, but I just don't.  However, it does work really well with the Real Red and Black.  The red seems to lift it a little and the black grounds it…  I hope that makes sense!

I decided to use a couple of new items, including this branch die from Simon Says Stamp.  It has the branch die and also either hearts or parcels and, of course, I had to choose the hearts for this card!  I cut the hearts from Calypso Coral and Real Red card stock and adhered them over the branch.

I need to make them feel a little more special, so I covered the hearts with Wink of Stella clear glitter and then added some Crystal Effects over the top of that.    For the sentiment, I used a rub-on from the Simon Says Stamp February card kit.   I mounted the front panel onto Basic Black card stock.

Here's my card:

The glitter pen and Crystal Effects didn't seem quite enough… so I took a few Basic Rhinestones to the part of the die that has the bows for the hearts.

I used another rub on for the inside:

And, as per my 2015 resolutions… I finished the envelope, too!  I used a piece of paper from the SSS February card kit – it was a really good match for the Calypso Coral.

Well, there you have it… I do hope you will check out the inspiration cards from the other members of the design team.  I can promise you there are some amazing cards for you to be inspired by.

On a personal note:

I did get to spend a little time in my crafting room today and listened to Verdi's Macbeth on WQXR.  Oh… how wonderful it was.   Listening to classical music is my favorite thing to do whilst I am crafting.  I have very varied tastes in music – actually, you could say I have very eclectic taste in music, however, when I am crafting, classical is my go to.  It was a recording that had been done during a live performance in New York in October last year and had the amazing Anna Netrebko as Lady Macbeth.  Her voice is as rich as molten chocolate over ice-cream.  Gorgeous.  Anyway, listening to that inspired me to spend a little more time in my craft room and I made two more cards to share with you.

Talking about sharing with you…. I got an email from Colleen B and the title was… this is what 2 feet of snow look like.   I did a double take, because, as you all know, Colleen lives in Texas and I couldn't imagine 2 feet of snow in Texas…. Anyway…here's the photo she sent me.   I totally and utterly laughed out loud!

Snow

Seriously…. one of the best snowman parts I've ever seen 🙂  Thanks for sharing, Colleen.

I'll be back tomorrow with another card for you.  In the meantime, warm hugs and prayers for those of you who need a little lift tonight.

Hugs
Jaydee

  1. This is adorable, Jaydee! Love your glittery and shiny hearts and the branch die-cut is fabulous! Thanks for making my colors look so pretty!!

  2. Great card. I actually love Calypso Coral. My least favorite is Crisp Cantaloupe. Sometimes I See it used & really like it and I’m shocked. Overall I find it blah.
    Same with Blushing Bride.

  3. I’m still laughing about that foot photo! Too funny! Your card is awesome, Jaydee! I just love those glittery hearts anchored with the rhinestones. Hey, you know I love that sparkle. I had a chuckle about you not being a Calypso Coral fan. I feel the same way about Garden Green. Hope you are staying warm up there, my friend! Hugs! 🙂

  4. Such an elegant die and of COURSE you had to hang hearts from it! I love all the added bling, really makes everything pop. I too have challenged myself to make sure I finish my cards when I make them instead of having a marathon ‘finishing’ session every few months. Beautiful card, I’m sure your Lou will love it!!

  5. What a beautiful, delicate branch and how perfect the little dangling hearts are. An absolutely gorgeous card, Jaydee. Wonderful use of the colors. And how about that snow sculpture? Love it!!!

  6. Ok, Jaydee, those frozen feet are hilarious! My thoughts on winter weather!
I adore your card! That branch is just fabulous with all those shiny, glittery hearts! The rhinestones are a perfect touch! XX

  7. I love your card Jaydee – those hearts look fabulous! I share your thoughts on Calypso Coral; until the ‘Stacked with Love’ DSP I hardly ever used it either. Love the two feet of snow – must show this photo to my kids, they will love it!
