Beautiful Day for Retrosketches

Hi Everyone.  Happy Monday.

I saw this great sketch across at Retrosketches this weekend and decided to play along.

I loved the diagonal element behind the focal layer and decided that it would work really well for my leaves stencil die.

I began by adding some green distress ink to my craft sheet and then added some white embossing paste and mixed the ink with the paste.  I then added the paste to the base layer quite thickly, and then left it to dry.   Whilst it was drying, I die-cut the tag and stamped two flowers from the Enchanted Garden set on opposite corners and colored them lightly with my Copic Markers.  I love this sentiment from the Enchanted Garden set and know that I will use this often.  It works for general cards, birthday cards, hello cards, friendship cards… Can you tell I just like it 🙂

Here's my assembled card:

Beautiful day (1 of 1)-2

For the tag …. there are two sides – one is the front side, which produces a smooth tag – the backside of it shows more distressing and stress from when the die is run through the Big Shot.   I decided to use the backside of it because I liked the distressed feel of it – I thought it worked well with the other textures on the card.

I needed to add a little more interest to the flowers, so used by Irresistibles white for one flower and clear for the other.  I also used some new ink colors from Fun Stampers Journey for the  flowers – they are really bright, neon colors and I think are perfect for summer.

On a personal note:

So… many of you enjoyed my emu card – you can see her again here.  Well, Jeanette decided to share another photograph with us from Down Under – and show us what a real Emu looks like!  This delightful photo was taken at a Koala Sanctuary a few years ago.   Full disclosure – more photos coming from that trip later this week :-)   So, thanks Jeanette for sending this photo.

SO much prettier than my stamp…. but still as cute. :-)

I'll leave you with that shot for tonight.  I'll be back tomorrow with another card.  In the meantime, warm hugs and prayers for those of you who need a little lift tonight.
Hugs
Jaydee

Well, yesterday was damp chilly and bit windy with temperatures in the 50’s and received an inch of rain.
Have a great day and an enjoyable weekend.
