Hi everyone. Happy Monday.
We had a great weekend and the concert was phenomenal. Lou and I had a long discourse about Wynton Marsalis' music. He tends to compose and foster modern jazz, which can be discordant and demands that you listen to it very carefully. Last night's concert was no exception. One of the members of the orchestra had composed, arranged and conducted 7 movements based on the inspiration he found at the Museum of Modern Art. I don't need to tell any of you that the pieces composed that were inspired by Jackson Pollock and Salvador Dali were at times tortured and painful, at others beautiful and lyrical. Either way – not exactly easy listening, but then the paintings by the inspiring artists aren't exactly easy to look at either. They force us to look at life very differently – and those particular compositions forced you to listen to notes and the way they were delivered – very differently!
However, the concert was a great success and Wynton Marsalis is not only the most talent talented trumpet player of our time… he's funny! That was very unexpected. At one stage, he was laughing so hard that the orchestra had to pull him back to his senses. The great thing about it – the audience was laughing with him. Just beautiful! So… we had a fabulous time. The hotel was incredible, the food sublime, the concert worth the 20 year wait – and time spent with my handsome hubby – priceless 🙂
Tonight's theme is before and after and uses the Awash with Flowers set….. I love the first card I made with the Awash with Flowers set – this one here. However, it really loses a little of its luster when it is photographed and I realized that when I saw it on the screen. Cam also felt that it needed a little bling. The thing about it… too much bling and it loses the simplicity, but I felt that redoing it with a little bling would be a good idea, because I am sure there were many of you out there that felt the same.
So…. you have seen the before
and here is the AFTER – with a little bling.
I added a half pearl underneath the petals and also stamped the petals again in Night of Navy, then used my Versamark pad over the ink when it was dry. I added some Iridescent Ice embossing powder and heat set. I cut around the petals and mounted them individually with dimensionals.
It's almost like taking makeup from a day look to an evening look 🙂
I hope you all have a fabulous Tuesday. Thank you – as always for spending time in my little are of the stamping blogosphere. Your visits and your support are always much appreciated. I also greatly appreciate those of you who have asked me for Trish's address to send her a much needed card to brighten up her day and show her some support.
Hugs

Hey, I like it much better with the “after”. It still has the simplicity yet more notched up to the next level. I agree that you don’t want too much bling. This one has just the right amount. I appreciate you taking the constructive comment and do the “after” card 🙂 You are funny. Hugs to you. p.s. I got Trish’s address. Thanks.
Yep you are right! The card with the bling was super. Blame it on the modern art!
Girls just gotta have bling – especially for your birthday! Love your card today!
At the very least, I think this should be your birthday month – why limit your celebrations to a single day? When a good friend of mine turned 50, she celebrated for the entire year – saying if the queen could have a jubilee year, so could she. We all need that mindset. Have a good one!
Love the bling!

Thank you for doing a before and after card! I like that idea! It makes me use my imagination! What little bit that I got! LOL! Thanks for showing us your awesome creation! By the way, I love those blue!!
What a difference a little bling makes! It really does take it up a notch–great job! I love the navy card–I do not use that color too much and I love it!
Again, just stunning! Love how you say “makeup” for the evening . . . love it.
gorgeous!
What a wonderful card. I just love it! One question I have: Where did you get the blue half pearl? I wonder if pearls come in other colors as well.
Hi! I love this card as well, and I’m wondering where you got the blue half pearls? I tried to dye the ones from the Pretties kit with Night of Navy reinker, but it’s not working. I’d love to do the same for another card. Thanks for any help you can offer!
