Bordering Blooms for Freshly Made Sketches

Hi Everyone.  Happy Sunday.

Tonight's card features a new SU photopolymer stamp set called "Bordering Blooms".  I had initially overlooked it in the catalog and it was only on my second run through that I noticed it.  It has 4 stamps with different floral motifs and one of them was perfect for the sketch across at Freshly Made Sketches. The sketch was designed by the very talented Linda Callahan.

I really like the skewed element and it was this that led me to the Bordering Blooms stamp.  I'm doing something a little different tonight and showing you a closeup of the design first.  That's because I fussy cut a few of the flowers and mounted them over the stamped image on the card.  It was really hard getting a decent photograph showing you this particular feature on the full card.

So, here's the closeup… you can see that some of the flowers are popped and I had to angle the card and the camera so that I could capture that for you.

I stamped the one Bordering Blooms stamp three times across  Whisper White card stock and then used my Copic Markers to color the images.  I paired this with a sentiment from another new set called Flower Patch.  (You'll see a card I made with that set later this week!)

Here's the colored image mounted onto a Blackberry Bliss base.

In addition to some popped flowers, I also used my Wink of Stella pen on the flowers and leaves to give just a little shimmer.   Unfortunately, it is VERY windy here today, so I wasn't able to get a photograph of my card outside and was forced to sit inside the house.  Consequently, it's not the best photo!

On a personal note:

I promised you a couple of nature shots tonight.

I walked out on to the deck earlier today and saw Mommy Mallard and her babies feeding.  They are really growing up!  You can see them pigrooting around in the hay looking for dropped seed!  She really is a very good Mommy.

It all started with a single Great Egret.  Then there were two.  Then there were three.  Last count there were 20 of them!  We are beginning to wonder if there will be any invertebrates left in the wetland by the time they have finished!

The Orioles arrived with a flurry of sound and motion.  The last couple of weeks they have been silent as church mice.  Once they had recovered from their migration, eaten their full and found nesting mates, they got down to the serious task of reproduction.  They've started to make themselves known again and are once again regularly visiting the feeder and have now migrated to eating suet in addition to the jelly, oranges and syrup.
