Hi Everyone. Happy Sunday.
It's the fabulous Laurie's turn to host our Paper Players challenge this week and she has a color challenge for us:
Kraft isn't a color I use very often…. in fact, I think I can count on one hand the amount of times I have used it over the last few years, so this challenge was a great excuse to get some of that old card stock out!
I decided rather than running from the Kraft, I would put it front and center and make it the focal base layer for my card.
I began by stamping the anemone layers onto white card stock and die-cut it. I stamped the leaves onto the kraft layer and then began to focus on the center of the flower.
I used some black and white irresistibles to create the pistils in the center. I then used a large enamel dot for the very middle of the flower. I also couldn't help myself and used my gel pen to add just a few lines of glimmer over the flower. Here's a closeup of the flower
Once the center of the flower was dry, I added the sentiment to the kraft layer using superfine white embossing powder and mounted that layer using fun foam. The flower was added to that layer using foam tape.
Here's my full card:
On a personal note:
I really am trying to spend some time crafting this weekend, but must admit, I am finding the Olympics to be a total distraction! I had them streaming on my iMac yesterday whilst I made cards. It took me forever to make two cards as I kept stopping to watch. 🙂 Let's see if I can make a dent in the cards that I have to create for the Altenew Educator Certification Program 🙂
I'll be back tomorrow with another card – and some photos for you. In the meantime, warm hugs and prayers for those of you who need a little lift tonight.
Hugs
Jaydee

Jaydee your anemone is gorgeous and the detail of the glitter and the flower centre really takes it up a notch. The kraft background really works to let that fabulous floral shine! I know what you mean about the Winter Olympics – I find myself getting distracted too, the sports are often so extreme!
The Kraft panel really makes the flower pop. Love the close up of the flower – that centre is gorgeous!
Oh this is beautiful, Jaydee! Love the deep, rich black you achieved and the red is so dramatic against the kraft. Gorgeous background stamping too. Stunning card!
Gorgeous bloom!I love how you did the center, too. Have a great Valentines Day Jaydee!
Gorgeous! You SHOULD used kraft more often, especially with this color combo! That flower looks like it could pop right off the page!
Jaydee, this anemone is gorgeous! That center is spectacular! I really love how the flower just pops off the kraft. I don’t use if often either, but maybe I need to rethink it. I am sending you a hug today! XXX
Such a stunning card! That beautiful flower is front and center against the Kraft and I like how you stamped the leaves on the Kraft layer. Hugs, Annie
A fabulous card…your coloring is so great. I am so glad you are sharing your experience in taking all the classes. Thanks.
Your anemone is gorgeous, Jaydee! I am crazy over enamel dots and love how you used one as a flower center, and also love the subtle background stamping. The stitching was the perfect finishing touch.
