The old house by the lindens
Stood silent in the shade,
And on the gravelled pathway
The light and shadow played.
I saw the nursery windows
Wide open to the air;
But the faces of the children,
They were no longer there.
They walked not under the lindens,
They played not in the hall;
But shadow, and silence, and sadness
Were hanging over all.
The birds sang in the branches,
With sweet, familiar tone;
But the voices of the children
Will be heard in dreams alone!
Longfellow
When will this madness stop and when will parents stop having to grieve after sending their child off to school – a place where they are supposed to be safe? On this, the first day of Lent 2018, my heart and prayers go out to the families and friends of the children killed at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Florida today.

What a beautiful poem by one of my favorite authors. My heart is so sad for these families and others who have been touched by the madness going on in our wonderful country. When will it ever end? Maybe our leaders should take a good look at all the bickering and dissent at their level and put forth more energy into enacting measures to stop the violence we are experiencing. Pray that their eyes will open soon. God bless each of them and the families who are having to go through this heartache.
Thank you, Jaydee for posting this quote. It is wonderful. I too grieve and wonder when it will stop. I’ve 3 grandchildren in high school…
Thank you! My heart is so heavy! I can’t stop thinking of all the grieving families and friends of all the victims in the heinous crimes. XXX
No answer to when, needs to be soon. My heart breaks for all involved. Including the entire USA. Lie your poem you posted. 🙏🏻🙏🏻
