Hi Everyone. Happy Tuesday. Hope you are all having a great week so far.
Tonight's card is the other version of the layout that I used in last night's card. This one, though, is very different in color, DSP and elements. However, the layout is exactly the same. I needed a couple of thank you cards, and this Spice Cake Pool Party DSP makes me happy just looking at it :-) I decided to use Button Buddies as my circular element. I played around with the sentiment choice for quite a while. It really needed something happy and cheerful. Looking through my stamps I discovered the retired Curls and Swirls Verses and decided that would be ideal.
Here's what I came up with
Don't you think that font seems to fit with this paper? I love the Very Vanilla with the Pool Party. I think this is my favorite of the 2011/2012 In Colors. I stamped the flower from Button Buddies using Craft Whisper White ink onto Pool Party card stock. I then covered it with embossing powder (an off-white) and heat set it. A little fussy cutting was required around the flower.
To secure the button onto the flower, I used a needle and Baker's Twine. I pushed the needle through the first button hole and sewed it to the flower and then back again, tying it off underneath. I then popped the button up on the sentiment using Stampin' Dimensionals. My Pool Party marker colored in the flower in the sentiment, and all that was required was a single little pearl in the middle of the flower.
So, what do you think?
Here's what I used:
- Stamps: Button Buddies, Curls & Swirls Verses
- DSP: Spice Cake
- Card stock: Pool Party, Very Vanilla
- Accessories: Brights Buttons, Basic Pearls
- Inks: Indigo Island, Pool Party, Versamark
- Tools: Embossing Powder, Heat Gun, Stamp-a-ma-jig
On a personal note:
It was wonderful watching the juncos at the fountain today. There were several of them along the button, amongst the rocks, drinking. We then saw the hairy woodpecker fly in, land on the side of the fountain and take a drink. Really… this fountain is one of the best things we have done for the wildlife. They just love it. One of the young deer was caught licking the side of it last night! An indication of how little rain we have had, and how little standing water there is around. We have decided that in the new house, we need to incorporate a fountain at the back and one out the front – right outside my office window!
This week we were choosing colors for the exterior and we even found a chandelier for the dining room. Oh boy… this is so exciting. It's going to be a long wait over winter whilst they finalize the plans, we choose all our fittings and finishes and then they start digging and building. Neither Lou nor I have ever built a house before, we have always bought existing houses, that this is a whole new ball game for us. Lots of work on our old one to get ready to sell it. Not least of which is doing a spring clean and sorting through 13 years of living in this house! :-)
As always, thank you for visiting my blog… I really do appreciate it. Warm hugs and prayers for those who need a little lift tonight.
Have a wonderful Wednesday.
Hugs
Jaydee

Pool Party is definitely my favorite of the new In Colors. It’s such a cool, versatile color and it looks wonderful with the Very Vanilla.
I love the “Curls and Swirls Verses” and desperately wish I had purchased it. It’s wonderful and goes beautifully with the paper. It’s perfect. :o)
Please tell me the fountain is moving with you to your new abode. I can’t imagine you NOT having it. And, how FUN to be able to build your house the way YOU want it. :o)
Hugs!
P.S. Hello, Lou! I hope you are well! :o)
Photos, I want photos–of those cute little feathery friends of yours.
What a great idea to put a fountain by your office window. That should make your long days more enjoyable.
What a cute card. My demonstrator just emailed me today, saying that she had found the Curls and Swirls set with my name on it, stashed away in her cupboard. Can’t wait to try it out.
What a cute card…that is going to be perfect for Spring!
Oh you just sound so excited about your new home. It is exciting picking all the items out and making choices and changing your mind and so forth. Packing and cleaning is not one of my favorite things to do and that part has be dreading our move to the new house…or wait…hubby keeps changing his mind! lol
Have fun with all the excitement and I can’t wait to see that new *time out* room you are dreaming up and organizing. Thanks for sharing the card and have a great day!
How exciting a new house! Everything just the way you want it! I am so envious.
The card is lovely. So perfect for Spring. I am loving the new DSP and colors.
Hi Jaydee!
Beautiful card, as always! I really like the look of these two colors together. Very fresh and fun! I thought the flower in this stamp set could be punched out with a scallop punch? Must be too small? This is a great design for card making. I must give this sketch a try soon. Would make perfect OWH cards quickly. ; )
I think you should offer this fountain to the new home owners so they can keep these creatures having a drink or two! Having two at your new home sounds wonderful, especially outside your office window. That will be fun to watch while on those long, dreadful calls you have to make. Keep us updated with all your new plans. It is exciting for us to hear about. We are happy for you and Lou!
Love the versatile layout! It really does look different from the winter post one, just with the different stamp and colors. Like magic. hahahaha. I think I will cheat and use this layout A LOT for the OWH cards for next time too. Thanks for the updates on the new house. Can’t wait to hear more. Andi
How fun, Jaydee – I love the spring like colors of this card and the embossing really adds great pop!
I love juncos as well, they are one of my favorite birds and I’m so happy to see them back at my feeders. They always make me smile with their antics and their flight patterns. My other favorite is the tufted titmouse so I love my winter birds. It definitely sounds like your new home will be a wildlife paradise with all the thought that you and Lou are putting into it. Will be wonderful to see what visitors you have once you get the house built and move in.
