Chalk Talk for Casestudychallenge

Hi Everyone.

Happy Wednesday

There's another great card across at casestudy challenge this week.  I was particularly attracted to the prominent bow, the tag and the circular elements on the base of the card.   I did, however, decide to go a  different route with the colors.

For my circular element, I ran Very Vanilla card stock through my Big Shot with my Mosaic Madness embossing folder.  It's subtle, but adds texture to the base of the card.   For the bow, I decided to use up the leftovers of the two-toned ribbon that is no longer available.   (That's actually what drove the color decisions!)

For the tag.. well, that was easy, I decided to use the large tag from the Chalk Talk set with the matching framelit to cut it out.   I did repeat the circular element by adding a button to the center of the ribbon.

Here's my card

Chalk Talk
I like the texture that the mosaic embossed background gives and the very vanilla button pulls the vanilla from that layer to the front of the card.

Tip:  I found that the black area wasn't showing quite as bright as I would have liked.  So I used a VERY fine marker to go over some of the wording and pattern on the Chalk Talk tag.  That helped the black to pop through better.    Also, if your white embossing power has a couple of missing areas, you can always use your white uniball marker to go and fill in those little areas.

You really should pop along to the casestudychallenge site and check out the fabulous design team cards – and don't forget to play along.

Ona  personal note:

Looking forward to the weekend.   It's going to be 90 degrees, which is a little warm for me…. but I am looking forward to a little downtime.

I had to share this photo of the feeder with you.  It was a pure coincidence that there were three red, white and black birds on the feeder at the same time!

You can see the pileated on the suet feeder.   If you look closely you can see the Red shouldered blackbird on the round feeder on the left and, of course, the rose breasted grossbeak on the tray feeder!    The fact that there were three birds with the same color scheme all together on the feeder at once, appealed to my sense of order 🙂

I caught a photo of some other visitors to our garden!   The turkeys were on their way to my studio window

Sam, my wonderfully soft-heated, super-sweet norwegian wasn't in the least bit impressed by this.  I could read his mind… "Mother, if I ignore them, will they go away?"

The cats love sitting on the window sill in my crafting room.  They have a birds eye view of everything that visits.  They can see both bird feeders and we have a chipmunk that lives under the stairs who has a little baby chipmunk.   They drive the cats mad!

As always, thank you for visiting my little neck of the stamping blogosphere.   Your visits and your comments are always appreciated.    Warm hugs and prayers for those of you who need a little lift tonight.

Hugs

Jaydee

  1. What a gorgeous card. The embossed background is just right texture to go along with your tag. Beautifully done.
Once again, thanks for sharing your wildlife photos with us. Very enjoyable.
I envy you by having all that great beauty right in your own backyard. I would never get anything done cause I would be watching and waiting to see what’s coming out from the wetlands next. You are truly blessed to have such beauty.
May you have a wonderful and enjoyable weekend.
