Hi Everyone.
I know that you will all be busy getting ready for Christmas. As for us… well, we aren't quite ready yet. We still have to go shopping for food tomorrow – and, in fact, I still have to decide what I'm cooking! talk about leaving it to the last minute.
The last couple of days have been spent just relaxing and enjoying each other's company. We have seen two movies in two days and will be seeing another one tomorrow. We have gone out to dinner on a date night and we have sat around the house and just chatted and chilled. In fact, we both fell asleep on the couch this afternoon. We have NEVER done that. But it was warm and cozy in front of the fire, a small amount of snow was falling and, after all, we did get to bed at 2.30 this morning!
On a couple of occasions I have tried to make a card. In fact, I have tried making 5 cards. Errrr….. I didn't finish one of them. I think my mojo has seriously gone south for winter. I even tried CASing a card to see if that would get my creative juices flowing again. Sadly, it did not. So, I am going to take a break for a couple of days and see if I can get back into it after Christmas. I think my brain is so full of what needs to be done around the house, packing that needs to be done, chores, things that need to be fixed, where the furniture is going to go in the new house…. well, with all of that whirling around in my little brain, there is nowhere for a card to materialize!
In case you were wondering what Buzbee has been up to. Well, he hasn't been able to go outside and play snowballs because the snow all melted, so I caught him with an alternative 🙂
Lucky they are made from unbreakable glass otherwise we would have had a dreadful mess on our hands. 🙂
I did want to share a photo I took on Thursday morning. Lou and I were up bright and early having breakfast in the family room. Suddenly the back of the garden caught the sunrise and lit it up in this amazing shade of orange. Considering the rest of the garden was still pretty dark, it looked amazing. I rushed downstairs to get my camera, but the color was already fading by the time I got to take the photo. I did notice though, that the reflection from the sun was almost the color of the deer at the feeder.
Mother nature sure knows how to bring a smile to my face so early in the morning. it was bright, beautiful, intense and disappeared so quickly. One of the things we are looking forward to in the new house is the much more open vista we have. As we currently live in a valley, we see so little of the sky and sunrises and sunsets go unnoticed for much of the time. However, our new home will be different. We also realized how different the views will be from each level of the house, too. It's going to be pretty amazing.
I found a couple more shots of the new lot whilst looking for cards to put up. (I couldn't find any cards that I had made that I hadn't shown you yet!!!), so I will share a couple of shots of the new lot with you.
This photograph was taken when I was walking around the lot in the middle of November. I walked down to the wetland area and along the back of our lot. I love that our lot leads right onto the wetlands and we are really looking forward to exploring them.
This next picture is from the same spot, but looking behind me.
This next picture gives you some idea of the slope at the bottom of the lot. I had walked back from along the wetland and was standing at the bottom of the slope of the lot looking up at where the house would be. I think this helps you to see how different each of the levels of the house will feel and what a different view they will have. The basement will be much closer to the lower levels of the trees but, because of the slope, the ground floor will be pretty much eye level with the stump from yesterday. Finally, the bedroom will look out pretty much right at the top of the trees and out into the open area. So, very different from our views today.
I wanted to leave you with this fabulous pic. You have no idea how being this close to nature – in our own garden – makes me so happy.
As always, thank you for taking the time to visit my little area of the blogosphere. I really do appreciate it.
I'd like to give a shout out to those of you who have offered to help make dresses for underprivileged little girls around the world. Even though many of you are lacking in deep sewing skills – just like me – the plight of these little girls struck a chord in your heart. I will be posting details of timing on my post after Christmas. In the meantime…. a very BIG thank you to each of you who have emailed me. You ROCK!!!! Warm hugs and prayers tonight for those who need a lift. Beth, my thoughts and prayers are especially with you and your family.
Have a wonderful Christmas Eve!
Hugs

I THOUGHT I had finished my grocery shopping…yup, I forgot three items. DRAT! So, I’m off bright and early tomorrow to just get it done and get out of there!
I can certainly understand why you are unable to focus on card making. I know the strain and stress that is packing up and sorting and donating and such quite well. So much to do, so much to do.
Oh my! Buzbee must have been peeking in on Ellie the other day as I found her doing quite the same thing! ;o)
That orange glow must have been utterly amazing as the photo is quite stunning. Isn’t nature amazing? I’m so looking forward to all your shots from your new home. It will be so different, and yet so wonderful! Having grown up in the mountains, I’m *still* getting used to being down here in the coastal plain and all the differences I find enchant me (although, I still do miss my mountains).
I wish you and Lou the Merriest and most restful of Christmases. Thank you, Friend, for all you do.
Many many hugs!
Rach :o)
P.S. Merry Christmas, Lou! :o)
Hi, Jaydee! I am so far behind…Christmas just sneaked up on me too quickly! I do want to wish you the merriest of Christmases and the happiest of New Years! You are always such an inspiration!
So glad you and Lou have been finding time to just be together. In my opinion that really is the best part of Christmas. Thank you so much for sharing so much of yourself and life with us, and a special big TY from my kiddles for all of the Buzbee updates! Now go enjoy some more time with you sweet hubby and have a very Merry and Blessed Christmas.
Blessings to One and All.
Merry Christmas and a Happy Healthy New Year!
Thank you for sharing your photos and the turkeys, they are beautiful.
As for Busbee, I probably shouldn’t write this but I was afraid, you were going to show him in the flour! Hope he doesn’t watch you cooking!
God bless you and Lou, Ruth Ann
