Christmas Star for Festive Friday

Hi Everyone.  Happy Monday.  Hope you all had a great start to the week!

I got a little time to play in my stamping space yesterday and found a couple of challenges to play along with.   The first one is tonight's card – made for Festive Friday.  The challenge?

Well, I knew immediately what I wanted to use when I saw this challenge! :-)   Yep.  Christmas Star.  I absolutely LOVE this stamp.

I inked it up with Silver ink and then embossed it with Iridescent Ice embossing powder.  It gives a subtle shine without losing glitter.  Unfortunately, the light isn't great for taking photos, so you won't see that on the picture, but it really is pretty.    I mounted it onto Silver metallic card stock and finished it off with the sentiment from More Merry Messages and a little bit of bling in th center of the star.  Here's the front of the card:

A couple of weeks ago, I attended the onlinecardclass virtual class called "insider".  It's all about ideas on how to decorate the inside of cards.   It really inspired me to do that with the cards that I made this weekend.     One of the tips they gave us was to repeat an element from the front on the inside, and place it exactly where the outside element is.   I did exactly that, except I didn't use embossing powder on the star, I left it with just the silver ink for a more subtle look.

The inside sentiment is also from the More Merry Messages stamp set.  The lighting really isn't doing this card justice.  The bright white of the Whisper White set against the metallic card stock works really well.  Add to that the shimmer and shine of the star, and it really is a pretty card in hand.

Why not pop along to Festive Friday and check out the fabulous design team and submission cards?  Guaranteed to provide you with lots of great inspiration in time for Christmas card making!

On a personal note:

I was outside photographing my cards a few minutes ago and saw a flash of bright blue in the bird bath.  I took a step forward to get a shot, but the bird felt my presence and flew off into the tree.

Oh…that makes me so happy!   I remember last year that we watched the blue birds hatch their young in a woodpecker box.  This year they didn't use the box, but they are making use of the water bowls and the abundance of insects flying around.   They really are the most delightful birds.  We know that they will be flying south in a few days, along with the straggler red-shouldered blackbirds that are around!

Rach – so glad that B was recalled today!  Terri – I'd be happy to ship any of my cleaning out sale items that you want to Canada!  Colleen – we had the reverse of you today.  Both of us were in jerseys and long pants this morning and Lou was back to shorts this afternoon!

It was really good to see some sunshine today.  It's rained and been grey and miserable for days!  We needed the rain, so I am happy about that, but….  it was really good to feel and see the sun!

I'll be back tomorrow with another challenge card for you.  In the meantime, thank you – as always – for your visit and your comments.  Warm hugs and prayers for those of you who need a little lift tonight.

Hugs

Jaydee

  1. Such a beautiful card; simple, yet very elegant.
They are such pretty birds. Maybe this little guy is looking for his own nesting box to raise their young in. Thanks 4 sharing your lovely photos
    Enjoy your day.

  2. I really want that star. I keep looking at it and looking at it. I keep seeing projects with it. I think at some point it’s going to have to come live at my house. ;o) Especially after seeing this wonderful card! :o)
Oh, how delightful is that bluebird? My hummers have deserted me, the robins are gone. My goldfinches are starting to show their winter colors and I’m seeing lots of titmice and cardinals. It’s a season of change around these parts.
    Hugs!
    P.S. Howdy, Lou! :o)

  3. I bet this Christmas star is shining bright in person! Such a pretty card and I love the inside Jaydee. I am trying to incorporate that into my own cards to dress them up just a bit. My next step will be the envelope liners but I don’t have that die or punch yet.
Your bluebird is just precious. What a perfect shot! Our park has some that will stay over the winter season, depending on the year. I love to take a run and see their beautiful colors against the brown bark. I always look for them and it makes my day to see one. Hopefully you are getting some bright sunshine after our gray stormy weekend. It’s supposed to be a nice week for blue skies!

  4. Gorgeous card. I love using silver on cards. So festive.
I have printed your picture of the bluebird so I can color him perfectly on my cards.
