Christmas Wishes for The Library Challenge #57

Hi Everyone.  Happy Saturday.

I am so late to the party on this challenge.  I made my card, but work got me so consumed this week, that I wasn't even able to post my card for the challenge.

The inspiration for the Library Craft Challenge this week is this wonderful book:

A Child's Garden of Verses

I saw this sweet image and decided to bring out one of my favorite images from Penny Black.  Even though it is a Christmas set, it can work for any season.  I was inspired by the colors, the shape of the focal image and that sweet image.

Here's my card:

Christmas Wishes (1 of 1)-2

I tried to add texture to her coat and not over-blend and smooth out the colors and tried to keep to the inspiration colors from the book cover.  I decided to die-cut the sentiment in white so as not to distract from the image.  I so love this stamp and ever time I use it I wonder why I don't use it more often.  There is such a sense of childhood and innocence – and it makes me smile.

I'll back later with my Paper Players card.  In the meantime, warm hugs and prayers for those of you who need a little lift tonight.  Stay safe

hugs

  1. Yes, I can almost feel the texture in her coat – so beautifully coloured (I wouldn’t have known it was from a Christmas set) and perfect for the challenge. Thanks for joining The Library.

  2. You are right Jaydee, the image makes me think of a child’s story but I do not know the name in English. You have such lovely stamps!!

  3. That is so striking!!!! That stamp is beautiful and Penny Black has awesome stamps. Love the coat on the girl and your coloring is wonderful. Have a great week.

  4. Thanks, Jeanne. I really do love the image and had such fun coloring it. I do think the end result looks like denim. So glad she made you smile.

they do have some great stamps. I have a couple in my stash that will always be with me. There is something about this particular image that really is so nostalgic. So glad you liked the coloring – I really did enjoy doing it
hope you have a wonderful week

  6. Thanks, Marina. She really is reminiscent of something..I need to think about it. And yes, I do seem to have a plethora of wonderful stamps 🙂 Over the years I have learned to buy only those that I really like – rather than what I used to do … buy things that were trendy. Took me a while to realize to do that thought 🙂
