Hi Everyone. Happy Monday night.
Very quick post for you tonight. This was a card that I made for the Justusgirls color challenge (orange, navy, green and white)… love that color combo! . The sketch uses the fabulous sketch from ourcreativecorner for this week. I love being able to combine a color and sketch challenge!
The card uses the new Baby Tees Jumbo Wheel. It was an opportunity to use this cool new wheel along with a masculine color scheme. That of course, led me to a baby boy card.
The colors really are fabulous together and I really enjoyed making this card, coloring in the tees and the sketch was great!
Card recipe – all product Stampin' Up! unless otherwise noted:
- Card stock and inks/markers: Night of Navy, Pear Pizzazz, Pumpkin Pie, Whisper White
- Stamps: Baby Tees Jumbo Stampin' Wheel. Sentiment: Papertrey
- Ribbon: Pumpkin Pie (retired)
Card instructions:
- I'll be back later with the sizes. I am not at my stamping desk right now so don't have access to my card to measure it up for you, but will do that later tonight when I get back into my space.
- I inked up the Baby Tees wheel with Night of Navy ink and rolled onto Whisper White card stock. I colored the images using Night of Navy, Pear Pizzazz and Pumpkin Pie Stampin' Write markers. The colors are so vibrant together and really make the card pop.
- I cut the Whisper White to 5 1/2" inches and let the height be dictated by the size of the tees.
- I put a Pear Pizzazz mat behind the Whisper White to lift it from the Night of Navy base and adhered it to the top of the card.
- I stamped the sentiment "congrats on your new little bundle" in Night of Navy, onto Pumpkin Pie card stock.
- I tied a piece of the Pumpkin Pie and Whisper White ribbon around the Pumpkin Pie layer and adhered it to the bottom part of the card base.
Tips:
- An image as bright and bold as this, needs a strong sentiment. That's why I chose to go with this particular sentiment.
- I wanted to stamp the image in Night of Navy so chose to color with my markers instead of my blender pen and inks. If I had used my inks and blenders, I would have had to have used my Stazon, and I didn't want to introduce black into the card.
Why is it that I love making baby boy cards? I asked myself that same question, so decided it was time to make a baby girl card, too and you will see that later this week!
On a personal note… still hot and muggy here. Mind you, the one very positive side benefit of the humidity and heat is the wild flowers….. we drove down to the cities last weekend and anywhere there wasn't farmland – there were carpets of wild flowers and grasses. Better than I have ever seen them. Even the medians in the middle of the highway were so beautiful, they made me want to take off my shoes and run through them like I did when I was a child. Just beautiful. Mother nature sure knows how to paint a beautiful picture.
Our furniture still hasn't arrived for our deck… I think they must be sending it by ship… man.. how long can it take to get two chairs and a coffee table. Just to tease us, Restoration Hardware sent us the cover to protect the coffee table via UPS. thanks guys! but can I have the table to put the cover over, please? Oh, well! I know we will really appreciate them when they arrive.
Well, it's back to work (yes I am trying to do this post quickly between conference calls)…. I'm not usually this late, but last night was a long day and a late night and I didn't get to my post:-)
Prayers for Trish, as always. I know this is a tough journey and one that you often feel you are doing alone. Stay strong, my friend. For T & Pri. Rach, time is indeed your friend. Hannah will always be with you and will always be around you, looking over you all. Germaine, I hope Pri is healing.
Have a wonderful Tuesday everyone. Thank you so much for your visits, your comments – and your support
hugs
Jaydee

Oh, fabulous card. Love those colors – great for a baby boy. Hope your furniture gets there soon.
Such a wonderful card. I love the colors. How about a card for twin girls? Sorry about the furniture. You will love it even more when it arrives! Doesn’t it always seem to take so long once you have made up your mind what to do!! Hopefully the weather will be perfect for sitting on it.
Those are wonderful masculine colors and the onesies are SO sweet! :o)
Grrrr. Anticipation is wonderful and all, but how about some furniture already?!? How frustrating.
Thank you. Simply that, thank you.
HUGS and prayers to one and all.
Love this wheel—such great colors, too!
So cute and I do like those colors together. Precious baby card!
By the Way…….thanks so much the other day for the tip about taking the backs off brads. I hate sticking those things through the paper and never can line them up right!! Duh..don’t know why I hadn’t thought of that. Thanks.
Lynn
Love this Jaydee…I want that wheel…looks great with the ribbon too!
Lesley 🙂
Great card! I have that wheel, I fell in love with it when I first saw it. I thought of all the wonderful things I could do with it. Do you use your wheels as they are or do you un-mount them and use them as a stamp? I have heard of people doing this, but don’t know much about it. Was wondering if you knew anything more. The colors on your card are fantastic, just wonderful, not your typical pastel colors. I see that today many Mother’s are moving away from the Pastels. I read that the more vibrant colors stimulate a baby’s brain and help thier eye’s to work more efficiently. They say that with the Pastel colors the babies cannot distinguish between one color and the next, they all tend to blend together. So good to know, that brighter is better for a baby. I want to Thank You on your Tips every day. I thoroughly enjoy reading each of them. They are very useful. I really like that you added that to your Blog. Very nice of you to take the time to do it.
I’ll be thinking of you All, Praying and sending Well Wishes your way.
I saw the Oncologist today and she told me that I was doing 300% better than she first thought I would. She was amazed at the way I was handling the Chemo. Believe me, I am not amazed…but she did say that everything that I feel and all of the symptoms that I have are totally within normal range. That was great news. Today was good! Tomorrow Chemo again, and it starts all over. Tee, hee. I did get to sit outside for about 2 hours today, the first time in about 3 weeks. Yeah!!!
Cyber hugs to All and to you Jaydee,
Trish in Wisconsin
So cute!
Trish-glad to see you commenting! Sending Huge hugs & well wishes to you and all my cyber friends!
Cool colors for a baby card and the onesies are so cute!
I know about anticipation-it seemed like it took forever for my new Stampin Up colors, etc to arrive! On the day it was scheduled, I kept waiting and gave up at 5 PM–the UPS man arrived about 15 minutes later! Your furniture will come! What is the old saying? A watched pot never boils!! Have a great day!
I just received this wheel. Can’t wait to try this sample. Love the colors!
Fabulous card. I have that wheel too and Bethany made a cute boy card by cutting out the onesie with the elephant and making that the focal point. She was wondering if yesterday was a good day for Lou to ride Baby the bike. Not too hot, not too windy, not too dusty…
Trish, I am so glad that you received such a positive report from your Oncologist. You are in my prayers daily. Stay strong and positive!
Cute card Jaydee! Please say a quick prayer that I’m feeling better by Friday for my Sm. Business & Craft show. I’ve been battling a sinus infection/bronchitis. I can hardly talk! I’m on my second round of antibiotics. Then to top it off the weather is supposed to be the hottest day of the year on Friday!! Just what I don’t need with my allergy problems. UGH! I’m trying to get things done for it, but just don’t have the energy when I can’t breathe half the time.
Love all your cute ideas! Thanks! Beth
