Curio Summer Findings for Paper Players #560

Happy Sunday

It's the fabulous Joanne's turn to host our Paper Players challenge this week and it's sketch week!

This sketch gave me the perfect excuse to ink up some die-cut dragonflies from The Greetery Curio Finds.  I am obsessed with these dragonflies.  They are one of my favorite finds of summer.  If you ever buy these gorgeous dies, a tip is to ensure that you blend the inks on thee die-cuts while they are in position.  They are so delicate it is easy to mess up the card stock when blending.  So I make sure I use 110# card stock and use finger blending sponges.  Betsy has another great tip about using a cut up sheet from the cricut or silhouette machine.  If you haven't seen her showcase this – you can check out her video here.

Once I had inked and blended the colors on my dragonflies, I placed them on a panel and lifted the wings with a little piece of clear foam tape.  Here's my card:

Curio Summer Findings (1 of 1)-2

Some of you may recognize that background stencil!  This time I turned it upside down :-)  I tried to match the colors with the dragonflies and added a little Garden Green Stampin' Up! card stock as my side vertical panel.

I hope you will join us and play along this week.  The design team have some fabulous inspiration for you – again! 🙂

On a personal note:

Didn't get into my craft room to make anything today.  It was more about decorating and getting ready for the cooler nights.  The house is starting to feel autumnal, but we still have to change out the carpets, drapes, etc.  Tomorrow it is off to the nursery for hay bales, pumpkins and mums!

I'll be back later in the week with another card.  In the meantime, warm hugs and prayers for those of you who need a little lift tonight.

Hugs

Jaydee

  1. I love your card. The black squares really make the dragonflies glow. I’m starting to see what a difference using a stencil makes, it adds a little something extra. Seeing your favorite stencil used so many ways recently has shown just how versatile they are. I don’t have any stencils and didn’t think I needed any. Might have to reconsider that.

  2. Jaydee, This is a beautiful card!
    I like the dragonflies.
Enjoy you Fall decorating and careful with the hand.
    Prayers for you and Lou!

  6. Thank you, Joan. So glad you liked the card. I must admit that it is only recently that I have started to use stencils so much, but I really do find they add just a little bit of interest and help ground the elements. I particularly love this stencil as there are three different stencils in the set and they create a great pattern regardless of which way you run them up, down or sideways! And… I am always happy to enable a fellow crafter with crafting goodies 🙂

  8. Thanks, Elizabeth. TBH…I think I spent more time trying to work out where to put the sentiment than creating the rest of the card 🙂

I love how you based them on a tiny black square, it definitely helps ground them and makes more of that stencil too – this was a worthwhile investment for sure! Love the tiny sentiment too – an all-round fab take on my sketch this week! Hope your hand is continuing to improve.
