Drum roll please ……and Frosty Friends for Paper Players 117

Hi Everyone.  Happy Monday.

Before I reveal the other card I made for my color challenge at Paper Players this week, I would like to give a MASSIVE shout out to CAM, CINDY, DORIS, JUDI AND BRENDA for sending cards to me for our Operation Write Home card drive.  I am almost finished photographing the cards to put up slide shows for you.   I have to tell you that some of these cards were beautiful inside – and out and I was inspired by them for the cards that I have been making for the Enchanted Makeover card drive.

I promised two blog candy drawings for the OWH card drive participants.   One $100 gift certificate and one $50 gift certificate – both courtesy of me – and both for the recipients choice of Stampin' Up! goodies.

Well, my good four legged helper Mr Bilbo helped me choose two names and ……. DRUM ROLL, PLEASE……. here are the winners.

First prize – $100 to spend on SU goodies goes to:  JUDI

Second prize – $50 to spend on SU goodies goes to:  CINDY

However, I have not forgotten Cam and Doris.  Cam and Doris will receive a surprise goodie pack of SU goodies from me.

So, congratulations ladies.  Cindy and Judi – you can choose from the two current SU catalogs to the full value of your winnings.  I will cover postage and tax.   Cam and Doris, please send me your addresses via email and I will get your goodies shipped off to you.

Now….. I'd also like to send a massive thank you to Marcia, Rosie and Marilyn  who have already let me know that they will be creating and sending cards for the Enchanted Makeover card drive.  This is such a great cause and I really appreciate their support.  If you are interested in helping us with this card drive – you can check out all the details on this post – or send me an email.

On to my card.

You may remember that the color challenge for Paper Players #117 is Bravo Burgundy, Night of Navy, Cajun Craze and Very Vanilla.   It's such a gorgeously rich and regal color scheme.  You can see my first card on this post.  However, I wanted to show you that you can participate in a color challenge and actually use only a small amount of color.

This card, using the same color scheme, is made using Frosty Friends – a brand new single stamp from SU that I absolutely love.

Isn't that image adorable?   You can see that I colored the accessories on the snowmen using the challenge colors and backed the focal image with the Bravo Burgundy and carried the Night of Navy through with the sentiment and button.  I added some Dazzling Details to the snowballs, ear muffs, mistletoe and lights just to add a little more bling.

The background layer is made from the new Argyle embossing folder.  There is something about this folder that just screams fall and winter.  It really does remind me of those soft, snuggly, argyle jerseys that I remember growing up with.  So, the Argyle embossing folder and the Frosty Friends image just seemed like a match made in heaven!

I actually turned this card into one of the card sets that I am making for Enchanted Makeover.  I changed out a couple of things though, so that the card could go through the post without extra postage and without being hand franked.  I'll show you that version later in the week.

On a personal note:

Lou and I had a great weekend. It was the first weekend since we moved into the house that we actually got to relax for the whole weekend.  Well, almost the whole weekend….. I decided that our ground floor bathroom really should have been painted the Toasted Marshmallow color that we have as an accent.  It has a gorgeous light fitting in there and it just seemed lost with the lighter color.  So, poor Lou, got out his paint brushes again yesterday and put down the first coat.  It looks fabulous and the light now really looks good.  I'll take a photo for you when he has finished!

Other than that, we got to go to movies on Friday night.  We went to see Argo – highly recommend it and then on Saturday we went to dinner to celebrate our anniversary.  I know it was a couple of days late, but we wanted to wait until the weekend.  So, we had a date night at a fabulous restaurant in Minneapolis where we got to eat some amazing vegetarian food.  I got to spend most of Sunday in my stamping space….. all round…. a great weekend.

As always, thank you or spending time in my little area of the stamping blogosphere.  Your visits and your comments really do mean a great deal to me.   Warm hugs and prayers for those of you who need a little lift tonight.

Have a beautiful Tuesday

Hugs

Jaydee

  1. Hi Jaydee! Your card is so warm and cheery! This is a cute new image and I adore your snow family. I never thought of the argyle folder this way and you’re right!
I just took a few minutes to learn about Enchanted Makeovers. Count me in on the card drive! I’ll start working on them right away and appreciate that you give us several weeks to get them into you. I am going to mention this ministry to my daughter’s Girl Scout troop to see what we can do to get them involved. I’d love if they made some pillow cases to give.
Congrats to all the winners for OWH. I look forward to seeing your creations soon.

  2. Oh, I am thrilled! THANK YOU so much. Am hoping to send some cards for the Enchanted Makeovers. At present I am heading up a holiday boutique for the first week of Nov. so it is keeping me busy:)

  3. A BIG Thank You to Mr. Bilbo for choosing me as your $50.00 winner! There are so many wonderful things to choose from the catalogs. It is my pleasure to participate in the OWH card drive each year. Sorry I won’t be able to participate in your current one but too many things are in the way. Your blog always starts my morning off to a great start as I’ve used many of your examples as inspiration.
    Have a great day, Jaydee!

  4. I am thrilled my sister Cindy won the $50 and that you will be sending me some SU goodies. You are too kind. I enjoyed participating in the OWH campaign and look forward to it again in the future. Thank you for your inspirations daily. Today’s card is so sweet and love the colors.

Ahhhh, snowmen. How I adore snowmen. :o) This is a fantastic card, Jaydee! I never would have thought to use Cajun Craze on a holiday card, but it works beautifully. It really is a rich and regal color combo.
How delightful to just sit and (almost) be. :o) I’m waiting for one of those weekends around here. Fall is always such a busy time for our family…
    Hugs!
P.S. Lou, you’re a good man to give up part of your weekend to paint. Truly. :o)

  6. Hi Jaydee, I am delighted to have joined the OWH card drive. And to receive goodies from you, that’s a bonus. Can’t wait to see all the cards you have taken pictures of. The more the better.
