Easy Events meets woodgrain

Hi Everyone.  Happy Monday.

I hope you all had a great weekend.  We did… it was just too short 🙂

I've really made use of the Easy Events set for my Enchanted Makeover drive cards.  The great thing about this set is that you can make a very clean and simple, one layer card with it, or you can dress it up with DSP, embossing folders, baker's twine, markers and all sorts of wonderful things.  That's exactly what I did with this card.  You've seen me use this layout before – it really is one of my fall to layouts.

I really love the SU woodgrain embossing folder and I thought it was perfect with the focal image.  I know that the DSP is supposed to be Christmas DSP – but the colors were perfect with the image and I thought it was a great way to highlight the red on the heart of the focal image.  The baker's twine makes 3 things red and you know I love a repetition of odds, especially 3s!

On a personal note:

One of the things I know that I absolutely have to do is get my backside off my chair – especially as I spend so much time on it during the day …and get some exercise.   I also realized this weekend that I find it much too easy to use the excuse that "I have to update my blog and therefore I can't exercise right now!"  So, I made a conscious decision last night that I was going to stop using this as an excuse and go exercise.   It also forced me to do much more standing when I am crafting.  When I was making cards for Enchanted Makeovers yesterday, I tried to stand up to do as much as my crafting as I possibly could.

I don't know about the rest of you, but exercise seems to take a backseat to the rest of life.  I feel so much better when I do exercise.  My energy levels are higher.  My appetite is lower.  I sleep better.  Heck, I just feel better.   I noticed on Rach's blog that she has a counter that shows how many miles she has walked..well… she's just changed it recently to show the percentage of body fat she has lost.  Way to go RACH!  I'm going to go off after I have made this post and see if I can find that little counter.  Maybe, having that there, will force me to be conscious about walking and exercising.  Well, tonight, I can add my first 2 miles to that little counter.  It's just so much easier to make excuses than actually do something about it.  The excuses have to stop and I have to start taking care of myself.

Yesterday the weather was ahhhhhhmaaaazing.   It was 61 degrees here.  Gorgeous.  Summer let out her last hurrah.  Today?  Well, let's just say that it was a high of 31!  Yep.  31!  As a high!

I'm off to go feed the puttytatts and then try to make a couple more cards for the card drive.  After that, well, I think I will indulge myself and watch The Voice.

Warm hugs and prayers to those of you who need a little lift tonight.  Have a wonderful Tuesday.

Hugs

Jaydee

  1. Funny that you mention The Voice. My former husband’s granddaughter is on it this year. Her name is Michaela Paige. I do not know her because she came into this world after I was divorced but I still wish her well and hope she continues to stay. And I hear you about the exercising. I don’t do it either. Always some excuse that takes priority. So, good luck. I hope you can stick with it.

  2. The funny thing about those tickers? You have to remember to update. Doh!! May you do better than I. ;o) But, good for you for getting up and moving. Once you get in the habit of it, you won’t even give it a second thought. Is there some time during then day that you can consistently make “movement” time? That’s what’s helped me so tremendously. :o)
The card is just wonderful. I love love love that little tree. Baker’s twine is such a simple embellishment, and yet, it really makes the card. Lovely.
Our beautiful weather flew the coop at 5:00 this morning and we’re now at 48 and rainy. Brrrr. 48 is awfully chilly after 74. :oS
    Hugs to you!
P.S. Lou, I hear you’ve been busy beavering away with paint once again. Hopefully you’re done with it for now… ;o)
