Fantabulous You for Paper Players #121

Hi Everyone. Happy Saturday.

The fabulous Anne Marie is our hostess for the Paper Players challenge and she has a really seasonal color challenge for us.   I know you will love it.

Well, I have to tell you that my mind immediately went to French Foliage.  Then I decided I really needed an intervention with that set 🙂 so sat down to consider alternative stamp sets.  Then, I got to thinking that I really wanted to do something totally outside of Fall.  I really couldn't find the right set.  Then, I remembered the wonderful MDS only stamp set called Fantabulous You.  I LOVE this set and really wish it was a rubber stamp set.  However, the great thing about it is that you can size it exactly as you need it.

For my card, I decided I wanted to keep it really clean and simple as this is one of the cards I will add to the card collection for Enchanted Makeovers.

I "stamped' the image in MDS and then took the coloring tool and cut the circle into 3rds and used each of the challenge colors for a portion of the sentiment.  I then sized it to exactly 2.5", knowing that I could use my 2.5" punch to punch out the circle.

I printed the circle onto Whisper White card stock, punched it out with my circle punch.  Then added it to the card base using Stampin' Dimensionals.

Once I looked at it I realized it needed just a little something else.  So, I took out my scoring tool and scored embossed on one side of the circle and debossed on the other.  This adds horizontal interest and helps to send the eye directly to the sentiment.

Here's my card:

I don't know what's up with the color on my camera…. but I couldn't get away from teh "greenish tinge".  The base really is white, I promise!

I really love the new MDS2.  The ability to color portions of the stamped image with different colors is fantastic.  I am not sure I could ever make a whole card using MDS, it just doesn't have the textural and dimensional aspects I look for in my cards.  However, using it for sentiments or image is great in a hybrid card.

We'd love you to join us across at the Paper Players this week.  Check out what the rest of the design team have created for your inspiration.

I'll be back tomorrow with another card and an update on the Enchanted Makeovers card drive!
As always, thank you for your visit.  Warm hugs and prayers to those of you who need a little lift tonight. Continued prayers for those still affected by Hurricane Sandy.
Hugs
Jaydee

  1. NIce card. Will you be featuring slideshows of the cards that will be sent to WM? I really do enjoy seeing what others, and you of course, make for these drives. Have a wonderful day!

  2. Ok now that is COOL! Love the idea of creating it on the computer and then playing around with it to get it just how you want before printing! This is an awesome CAS card!

  3. OK, you are crazy awesome, clever! Love how you separated the MDS image and colored it with the challenge colors. So stinkin’ clever! The score lines are a fabulous repeat of the lines on the image. Fantabulous!

  4. I confess, as soon as I saw the colors I said to myself, “Jaydee’s going with ‘French Foliage’.” Ha! Shame on me. ;o) Then, I peeked at the card before reading the post and couldn’t figure out how you had managed to so evenly and beautifully ink that stamp to get those colors so crisp. Ahhhh, no stamp…got it! Brilliant even! You’ve really got me wanting to play with MDS now!

  5. Wow, this really, really stood out for me among the fabulous DT cards, Jaydee, for its wonderful design line elements, lots of yummy white space, and that crazy awesome sentiment. Perfection!!
