Festive Foliage for Paper Players #669

Happy Sunday.

It’s my turn to host the Paper Players challenge this week and it’s theme week!  It gives me the perfect opportunity to showcase I made for the Create and Connect event that I attended in November.  This set is from The Stamp Market and it’s called Festive Foliage.  Now, this card has far more elements than I would normally add to a card – but I did (somewhat) follow the design made for the class!

There was a lot of die-cutting for this one, and stamping, too.  The card is a gatefold style  and it took me ages to get the leaves and flowers in just the right position so that they wouldn’t go too far over the sides of the card and not fit in an envelope!  I have this thing about cards I make having to be just the right size to fit into an A2 envelope.  That means nothing hanging too far over the edges, no thick ribbon or elements so high that I have to squish them.  I used to make those types of cards, but these days… not 🙂

Anyway, here’s the finished card!

Such a pretty set and I added some extra sparkle with some glittery flakes.  They were much easier to handle than pure glitter.  Even though I VERY rarely use glitter, it’s amazing how long it stays around when I do 🙂

On a personal note:

Well, we are really short on show here.  It’s the first week of December and we have had only one light dusting of snow, so am hoping we get some soon.  In the meantime, the apartment is looking warm and cozy in its red, white and black color scheme for this year.  Our “what the heck do I do with that?” spaces are redecorated for winter.

Our mirror has changed out from the beautiful fall tones to white.  You can see how this area looked in fall on this post.   The pillow on the chair has also been changed out – as have the candles on the coffee table

Another space, that I didn’t show you earlier, is on the opposite side of the living area.  It’s between the windows and the concrete column … it was an awkward space.

BTW…. the poinsettias look black, but they are really a dark hunter green!

We also have the table that sits in the little alcove outside Lou’s office (officially the 2nd bedroom!).   This little display catches the light in the morning and the gold on the leaves of the trees shimmer and shine!

Our modern couch….. such a silly choice with animals… ends up being covered with a blanket every season just in case there is an unexpected throwup!  So, we changed out the fall blanket for a buffalo plaid one instead.  Charlie approves…. mmmm and his colors fit perfectly!

One last area for you…. There are two awkward shelves above the sink.  I found these three gorgeous nutcrackers and put them on the top shelf:

Aren’t they fabulous?  I just love them and they are beautifully made.
