Hi Everyone, happy Saturday night!
Great challenge for you across at the Paper Players this week. Lesley has a fabulous color challenge.
It took me a little while to work out what I was going to do with these colors, in fact I tried a couple of sets that I thought would work, but nothing turned out quite right.
I was focusing too much on the Crumb Cake and not enough on the other fabulous colors. I finally had an idea and went along with it to see if it would work. In the end, I was very pleased with the way it turned out.
Yes… I know you are all going to be sitting there saying… hub? Is this really Jaydee's blog? Is that distressing we see? Are those edges all distressed? Really? And what's with the Color Spritzing? Has she been channeling Ann Schach?
Well…. I decided the stamp set did lend itself to something a little more distressed than usual. However, I did keep clean and simple lines! 🙂
I found that once I stopped focusing on what I was going to do with the Crumb Cake and realized that I can minimize it, things fell into place. I think many of us get caught up on color challenges when we focus on a color that doesn't fit into our comfort zone.
I decided to use the Crumb Cake as the background. I inked up my En Francais stamp and pressed Natural White card stock gently onto the stamp. This gave me French script in Crumb Cake. I then took my Color Spritzing tool and my Crumb Cake marker and spritzed the Natural White layer, too.
I covered the Basic Gray and Baja Breeze layers with the En Francais stamp as well, and also spritzed them with the Crumb Cake. This helped to tie the layers together and give them continuity.
I inked up the stem of the flower in Lucky Limeade then, using the "kissing" technique, I touched the stem with my Basic Gray marker. You can see the stem change from green to gray, giving it a more aged feel.
I thought the Four Frames stamp set was perfect as a place to the put greeting and the "with love" fit inside it perfectly. I punched out the frame then used my snips to take the frame down to where the stamped image finished. This allowed me to create a Baja Breeze layer that fit so well behind it. I inked up the stamp with my Baja Breeze and Basic Gray markers. The Basic Gray was used for the curly bits in the middle of all sides!
All edges of the card stock were distressed using the sides of my paper snips.
For once, I decided to use my Bow Easy to create the bow. I cannot make bows that small without it, and my "normal" size bow was just too big. A few pearls finished off the card.
So, what do you think? I LOVE this stamp set! I also think this is a perfect card for our Operation Write Home card drive.

Now, it's over to you. Pop along to the Paper Players and join in the fun! You have two weeks to share your creations with us. We are extending our challenge # 55 to a two week challenge to give everyone more time to ink up some rubber and show us what fabulous creations you have made.
On a personal note. …
I have two photos to share with you tonight…. Another sleeping cat photo… this time little Charlie. He knows exactly how to make himself comfortable on our couches in my stamping space.
Then…here's a photograph my camera took all by itself. Well, with the aid of my floor! Yep, I tripped in my stamping space. I had just finished taking the pictures of my challenge card on the window sill. I turned around, tripped over a wire, went flying towards the wall, pushed myself away from the wall so as not to bang my head straight into it, but managed, somehow to keep a hold of my camera! The photo took itself as I hit the ground. You can see my hand in the top left hand corner… that pink shiny thing! I didn't realize the camera had gone off until I went to upload my photos tonight!
Yes, the camera landed on it's head and took a picture of the world upside down. Me? Well, I landed with my all (not inconsiderable) weight on my right knee. As of this minute there is no bruising, however my knee and the area below it, have an 8" egg sticking out from that area. It's getting really stiff and I think is going to get bigger. Mmmmmm….bit of a problem considering I am going to need to walk for miles next week. Luckily, I managed to graze the wall with my head instead of slamming straight into it. I did manage to twist my back though! Charlie… heard me go down, I mean, I didn't exactly go down quietly!!!! and came rushing to make sure I was OK. He rubbed his head against my hand as I lay on the ground swearing up a cloud! Ah… sweet! He then proceeded to lick my hand, just in case I needed it 🙂
Sometimes, all you need in life, is a little bit of love! Charlie certainly gave that today with, I might add, Bailey in hot pursuit about 1 minute later!
I hope your weekend is filled with a little bit of love. Prayers tonight for those who need a little lift. Missy and Rach included!
Now, don't forget to pop along and check out the fabulous Design team cards on our challenge this week
Hugs
Jaydee

Beautiful! Ann does rub off on people, so I’m not surprised to see some distressing. 🙂 I love the way you used the colors; I need to remember the tip about NOT focusing on the problem color. I did that earlier this week with Tangerine Tango.
I hope your knee feels better before all the walking starts! (HUGS) Charlie is adorable; my Bandit is beside me right now in just about that same sleeping position. Silly kitties.
This is beautiful!!! I ordered this set, can’t wait to get it!!
I love all the elements of your card Jaydee. I wonder if we will get the stamp set in our catalogue, if not I might have to do some internet searching ha ha, absolutely beautiful set. The colours you used work so very well. Oh wonderful little Charlie, he is so contented in that position. How is Bilbo going these days? I hope you are not too sore after your fall Jaydee.
Nice and cold here in Perth today, I know no where near as cold as you have in the US but quite cold for me, Mickey cat is cold too and sitting on my lap!

Yes, Ann does rub off …I just ordered a new Spritzer tool because mine wasn’t working well and Ann has got me wanting to use the Spritzer more and more.

Jaydee,
I just love your card today! Beautiful design and lovely use of these colors. I like the pop of red too. Very inspirational!
Hope your not hopping along today in too much pain. Glad to hear you had little ones looking out for you. Love our animals for that very reason!
Beautiful card! This is just gorgeous! I agree with your thoughts on color challenges, too! Hope you are okay, and glad your kitties were there to help!
Oh I am so sorry about your knee-sounds very painful. Hope it feels better with some rest.
Your card today is so pretty. Your work is so inspiring. Thanks for sharing all the little secrets to making great cards.
Holy cow, Jaydee! What a trip–no pun intended, I swear it. OMGoodness. I’m so glad you weren’t more seriously injured and I pray you aren’t too stiff and sore today. :oS How sweet of your babies to come and ascertain you were okay. :o)
The card does indeed have “Ann” stamped all over it (again with the BAD puns! I apologize!). But, it definitely has that “Jaydee” CAS look about it. I love it, as a matter of fact. You used the colors beautifully, using the Poppy Parade as a “Pop” of color. Gorgeous. Simply gorgeous. And, leaving me thinking I must get the spritzer tool. ;o)
A big cyber hug and howdy to you, Lou! :o)
Hugs and prayers as always.
Rach

What a beautiful card Jaydee! I have that set on my wishlist and I LOVE how you used it with the colours! Be careful! Stamping rooms can be hazard zones, happy the wee kitties were there to kiss you better! Hope your knee is ok today!

Absolutely gorgeous, Jaydee! The distressing and the spritzing are perfect! Of course the pearls are really sets this card off! It’s a beautiful CAD card…clean and distressed! I think you channeled me perfectly! LOL I hope you survived your fall. Sometimes the morning after can be even more painful!
I’m glad your kitties came to the rescue… I’ve always wondered what my cats would do in a crisis like that! Take care of your knee and back and make sure you rest them and don’t overdo it! Beautiful card, too.
Jaydee, I’m sorry you fell and hurt your knee! So you’re going to Convention?! Me too! I hope to see you there!!
Love your card – one of my swaps is using Field Flowers!

Susan
This set was on my “maybe” list and after seeing it here, it is moving much more closely to my “must-have” list! Wow, what a beauty!
Hope your knee feels better SOON! We don’t want you hobbling around at convention! What a photo! 😀
Absolutely gorgeous Jaydee! So is Charlie!
I hope you are ok from your fall! Good thing you have your babies to check on you!
Thanks for sharing another beautiful card with us! Also for your prayers! My Dad will probably go in the hospital this week to regulate his blood. He is scheduled for his surgery July 20th. Hopefully, we will find out soon from the surgery if it is cancer or not or if he loses one of his kidneys.
Prayers to you Rach & everyone else who is in need!
Jaydee, this card is STUNNING! Lovely when I looked at it on the PP blog but then when I came here and could appreciate all the deets up close I saw how truly beautiful it is. Lovely job with the colors–love the BG stamping and those flowers are gorgeous. Sorry about your tumble–hope it’s getting better day by day. hugs!

Good grief, Jaydee…I’m glad you are ok after your fall! Yikes! Your card, however, is stunning! I honestly have never even considered this stamp set, until today. I just love the distressed background and the pops of color. Just gorgeous! Charlie is a sweetie! I love when kitties sleep on their backs…you can tell they are comfortable in their environment.
I will be back later to catch up on all I have missed out on…can’t wait to see your posts from Convention! Hugs! 🙂
