Forever Flourishing and Forever Fernery for CAS Colors and Sketches #372

Happy Sunday.  Again! 🙂

I have a card that I made using the new Stampin' Up! Forever Flourishing dies – that will be available this coming Wednesday!  I saw this great sketch across at CAS Colors and Sketches and had this idea in my head to use three of the dies as the focal element.  Here's the sketch:

I stamped the leaves that have a matching die, and die-cut the leaves that don't have a matching stamp.  With me? Not all of the dies in the Forever Flourishing die set have a stamp that matches them. 🙂

For the leaf that doesn't have a matching stamp, I added a little depth with my markers – I added some shading with my markers to the other leaves.  Here's a closeup for you:

I wanted to use something other than green for the leaves as I seem to have been using a lot of green recently!  Here's my full card:

The sentiment is from a set of stamps that came with a very old Paper Pumpkin kit.  I discovered it when I was cleaning out my room and cupboards so that Lou could repaint and I really like the sentiments/fonts in it.

On a personal note:

I managed to get into the garden to take a couple of photos this morning.  The birds don't really like me being out there, so I can't always capture the birds that I want to!

I managed to catch this female redbellied woodpecker at the suet feeder.  She ate a little and then flew off with some in her mouth to feed her babies.

I also managed to capture a shot of the Downy doing pretty much the same thing – except on the jelly feeder.  I love the way he was clinging on to the feeder!

I'll be back tomorrow with some more cards and some more photographs.  In the meantime, warm hugs and prayers to all those who need a little lift tonight.

Hugs

Jaydee

  1. Good morning Jaydee! Just to wish you a great day! I loved the simplicity and beauty of the card. Wished I had your creativity!!

  2. For a clean and simple card this one really rocks the boat. I love that you chose not to do the leaves in green, it just adds a whole different dimension and the shading with your markers on the other leaf is a cool addition and really gives some impact. Thanks for your creativity and sharing.

  3. Penny, thank you so much! I don’t generally play with this color grouping, but I think it does work well together and the leaves add texture without being fussy.
