Hi Everyone. Happy Monday.
I hope you all had a great weekend. I managed to get some stamping time in on Sunday and used a couple of challenges as inspiration for the cards that I am making for our Cards for a Cause 2015 card drive. Just in case you missed what it is all about – you can check out this post
I saw this great sketch across at As You See It and, in fact, I created a couple of cards using this layout.
For tonight's card I used the cloud word bubble die from Simon Says Stamp's Talk Bubbles die-cut set and I paired it with the sunshine die contained in the SSS August card kit.
I stamped the Four You "hello" from Stampin' Up! onto the word bubble and then die-cut the "sunshine" in silver glimmer paper that I colored with a Copic marker. I needed something behind the word bubble and realized that my Tim Holtz sun rays stencil would work perfectly. I used some Mustard Seed distress ink and my mini blending tool and all I had to do was mount the word bubble using some fun foam and mount the panel onto some Crushed Curry card stock.
Here's my card:
Of course, I had to add just a little something extra and a few yellow enamel dots seemed to work just fine!
As I have been making cards for our two charities, I have found myself using much brighter colors than I normally do and, I must say, I have actually enjoyed playing with them. I have the cards that I made over the past weekend on the table in the basement and when I look at them I really notice how bright and cheerful they are.
If you are looking for more inspiration – don't forget to check out the As You See It challenge blog for some great inspiration from the design team – and play along, too!
On a personal note:
I thought I would share some photos with you tonight. Our Petrodactylized feeder (see this post) has been fixed and the Chickadees were taking advantage of that!
I love these little guys their cheerful sound always brightens my day.
We have another butterfly visiting us – the Great Spangled Fritillary (isn't that a wonderful name?) is one of them.
We have the perfect wetland environment for them, but I just read what they eat as caterpillars and realized that we don't have any violas. The caterpillars overwinter and then eat the viola's in spring. I think I had better get some viola's! We have plenty for the adults to eat… but nothing for the caterpillars.
I'll be back tomorrow with another card. In the meantime, warm hugs and prayers for those of you who need a little lift tonight.
Hugs
Jaydee
