I have a quick post for you tonight. A card and some photos!
I found a new challenge site – well, it's new to me anyway. It's a photo inspiration challenge and this photograph is just stunning and really got my creative juices running. As soon as I saw it, I knew exactly what I wanted to do with it.

Here's my take on the challenge:
Well, I guess you can see I really was inspired by the blue and orange… and the hint of green from the photograph. I have never used Pumpkin Pie and Night of Navy before… but they are gorgeous.
Card recipe – all ingredients Stampin' Up! unless otherwise noted:
- Card stock: Night of Navy, Very Vanilla, Pumpkin Pie
- Stamps: French Foliage. Sentiment: Papertrey Ink
- Inks: Distress Inks for foliage. Early Espresso for sentiment. Crumb cake and Early Espresso for the smaller elements on the focal image
- Accessories: Silk ribbon (non SU)
- Tools: Stampin' Dimensionals. I raised both the focal layer and the punched sentiment. Oval punch.
I really loved working with this challenge – the photograph and the colors were just stunning.
On a personal note:
I have a couple of photos for you tonight of the visitors that I captured in our garden today. One of the sightings was most unexpected. Lou came rushing into my office whilst I was on a conference call flapping his arms like wings and pointing out of the window. I looked out of the window and couldn't believe my eyes! Then, this afternoon, I sat on the deck for about 10 minutes and captured a couple more photos.
Here's the female oriole. She is not impressed that her jelly jars are empty!
I'm thrilled that they are still around. It's stunning. I catch flashes of bright orange throughout the day and it makes me happy every time I see it. Not the flash of the outrageously orange feeder…. but of the Orioles!
The hummer's are happy that we are feeding them! I almost got a picture of the male and the female on the feeder, but they move too fast!
I did get this one, though!
Last but not least… here's what Lou was excited about this morning….. I apologize about the photograph – but it was taken out of my office window and through the flyscreen. However, I was not going to go out on the deck because I didn't want to scare them off….. To say I was stunned that we had these magnificent birds on our little area of paradise, is an understatement!
and if that wasn't enough….. there were two of them
An unbelieveable day. Oh…and on top of that. We have another piece of furniture being delivered tomorrow. A cupboard. Nothing we can sit on… but at least it is something. Then, I got an email saying that our dining chairs, a couch and another chair are on their way and should be here by the end of the month! YAY!!!!!

Hi Jaydee! Oh I love your card today. This is my most favorite stamp set ever and each time you create a card with it, it makes me happy! The navy and orange colors together are devine. And that pretty silk ribbon just is perfect to finish it off.
What great bird photos you have taken! I just love the turned head on the oriole. She is telling us exactly what she is thinking. The hummer photos look professional, wow. The one mid flight is awesome. And finally, I hate to say this, but I’m not sure what type of birds you have in the last two photos. Boy, they are stunning! What a great start to my day seeing such inspiration. Thanks so much for sharing with us!

Hi Jaydee, First your creation is a beautiful interpretation of the inspiration photo. And then Wow your shots of the birds are awesome ! We enjoy birds in our backyard, but have never seen a Oriole and to get photos of the Hummers is so amazing ! and not sure what the big birds are (Herron?), so wonderful to have all of these vistors in your backyard, lucky you. Okay, so how in the world were you able to keep up that call with those gorgeous avian out your window?? The hummers are lovely and that oriole is beautiful. I knew you would be so happy there. :o)
The card is wonderful! It looks like you were channeling that oriole as well as the card. Hee hee. French Foliage is such a lovely stamp set and that piece of silk ribbon is so elegant. :o)
I hope you continue to have visits from those stunning sandhills!

I was hoping for wildlife pics when I opened your website today, and I definitely wasn’t disappointed. (And I love the card too…just ditto Kelly’s comments, LOL) Wow, love those photos. I’m SO jealous of your orioles. I can almost hear the wing action of that hummer. But, like s couple of your other readers, I don’t recognize your two bigger visitors.
Keep them coming, Jaydee. Reading your adventures is always a highlight of my day.
