Hi Everyone
Happy Monday. I hope you all had a great day – and a great weekend. Tonight's card uses the sketch from the Stamping 411 challenge this week – I made a small tweak with the ribbon placement and turned it horizontal- and the inspiration challenge from PalsPaperArts. I fell in love with cushions and the colors on the inspiration photo. I really love being able to combine challenges! As usual, I really recommend you go check out the DT cards and the submissions!
Tonight's card features two sneak peeks for you – the stamp set Friends Never Fade and the new Designer Series Paper – Greenhouse Gala. I loved the stamp set AND the DSP the minute I saw them on the preorder and immediately added them to my have to buy category.
Last year I bought a couple of sets on the preorder and really wished I hadn't. Not because they were bad sets, but because I just couldn't make them work for me. This year – I have loved every one of my pre-order purchases and have not regretted jumping in and buying them. I had great fun using them this weekend. The DSP is gorgeous. You are going to love the DSP's this year. I am looking for ways to use DSP right now – just because it is so gorgeous.
Tonight's card has a sentiment that is so true "Friends are flowers that never fade". I was lucky to spend time over the weekend with my great friends Cherie and Brenda – this sentiment certainly fits for them. They are really amazing. For my birthday they gifted me a surprise. The purchase of a ventilation stove for an impoverished family in Guatemala. They knew that this would really please me. A gift in my honor that was designed to help someone else – priceless.
Friendship is so important to all of us, regardless of whether they are friends we have and meet with in person, or those that we share connections with only over a cyber connection. The three of us spoke several times this weekend about how honored and blessed we felt to share a little of our lives with each one of you and how much we all appreciated hearing from you and what you are up to. Your comments really do not go unnoticed – or unappreciated.
So, my card is dedicated to all of you tonight.
So, I am officially in love with the paper and the fact that the paper echoes the stamp in Versamark and the stamp in the focal point. I love the color combos. They are fresh and fun and really on trend.
Card recipe:
- Card stock: Old Olive, Pumpkin Pie, Whisper White
- Ink: Cajun Craze (popped flower), Peach Parfait, Versamark
- Ribbon: Old Olive 5/8" inch satin ribbon
- DSP: Greenhouse Gala
- Accessories: stampin dimensionals, Smooch Spritz – Vanilla
Instructions:
- Cut old olive to A2 – horizontal – size
- Use Vanilla smooch spritz all over the Old Olive Card base to give extra shimmer
- Cut Pumpkin Pie to 3 1/2" H x 2 1/2" W. Stamp flower stamp onto Pumpkin Pie using Versamark
- Stamp "Friends are flowers that never fade" stamp onto Whisper White using Peach Parfait. Cut around the stamp border
- Stamp the main image again using Cajun Craze. Cut out just the flower and pop over the original image using Stampin Dimensionals
- Cut DSP to 5 1/2 W x 2 1/2" H and adhere using snail
- Wrap Old Olive Satin ribbon around card and tie
- Adhere the focal point image using stampin dimensionals
Tips:
- Stamping the flower image a second time, in a darker color, and then layering with dimensionals, really allows it to pop and gives more interest to the card, especially with a bow on ribbon as wide as this. It really helps to balance the card better than if the image had remained on the same plane as the original stamped image.
- Don't forget to condition your stamps with larger ink collection areas – such as this stamp. You can do this by gently rubbing the softer side of a sanding block and then cleaning it. Sometimes, a good cleaning with Stampin Mist is all that is needed to remove the film that is on when the stamp is shipped.
Don't forget to come and join the challenge with the Paper Players – all we need you to do is make a masculine card. You know we appreciate you playing along! We all love seeing different masculine cards, as we are ALL always looking for inspiration.
On a personal note – it was a gorgeous day here today. It was a pity I had to work, but I suppose something has to pay for my July order that I'm planning… oh yeah… and the deck! The deck really looks gorgeous. It isn't finished yet, but they have promised us it should be finished tomorrow. Then the nursery is coming in on Thursday to plant some privacy trees for us and we will be going to do a little shopping for accoutrement for the deck. All very exciting. I promise I will take some pics and show you before and after once it is finished.
A week or so ago, Trish mentioned sending prayers for those affected by the oil spill. The images of the wildlife affected by this tragedy, and the livelihoods of those who are dependent on the ocean, distress me beyond words. Especially at such a crucial time of the reproductive year. Of course, I am boycotting BP and will for the rest of my life and I had to find a way to send a donation to charities who are trying to help those affected. I just wish I could do more. The one thing that I have learned though, is that each of us, even in small ways, can be very effective when we take a stance.
A big thank you to Brenda who asked her stamp club members to make extra cards at stamp club yesterday. Those extra cards are for our Operation Write Home card drive. They made over 70 cards to add to our collection. So, that will really help our numbers. I know Brenda is as thrilled as I am, and I know, too, that the ladies at stamp club felt good doing something for the cause. I can't wait to start highlighting the cards that you make and send on to me. I know many of you enjoyed seeing each others creations from our last drive.
As always, I hope you all have a fabulous Tuesday – one filled with
love and sunshine. Please continue to say prayers for those in need –
including those in our little group, Trish and Germaine included.
Hugs to you all
Jaydee

Wow-that card takes my breath away! The orange really makes the whole card! I love the new DSP. Thanks for the tip on how to get those larger stamps to stamp better. I am going to do that from now on. It is frustrating to get a small section of a stamp that will not hold ink.
Thanks for sharing.
This is gorgeous! Love the simple layout and those bold colors.
Love that pop of peach! Very pretty and classy!

This DSP is gorgeous and I can’t wait to see it in person. My order should be here on Wednesday, Yeah! How do you come up with so much different creativity each day? You truly do amaze me with your constant new and exciting creations that you post for us. It is really going to be hard not to CASE some of your work when I am able to get to cardmaking on a regular basis. Some of your cards are just beyone WOW!!! I can’t wait to come here as often as I can and see what you have come up with and also read a little bit about your daily life. You have such an interesting way of writing and I really enjoy reading it. When you describe something I can actually visualize it in my head, although if I were actually to see some of what you have talked about I am sure it would look nothing like what I have pictured. Cyber hugs to All, and Jaydee, Trish in Wisconsin
Love this set, and the colors you used are fab!!
Jaydee, I just LOVE this card! In fact, I’m going to go CASE it tonight while I watch the news in my Stamp Room! I’ve been busy today and yesterday – DH and I watched our granddaughters (Anna was 2 in February and Bethy is 10 months) yesterday and today so our daughter and her hubby could have a little overnight get-away. The girls were delightful! They are very flexible and took good naps and slept well last night! We had lots of good quality time with them, and I’m SO thankful that we live close enough to be able to see them often – they live about 45 minutes away.
Written a little later… I did make my version of your card and I love it! Do you have the Peach inkpad? I tried inking up that stamp with the peach marker, and it turned out uneven and didn’t look so good. So I just used the Pumpkin Pie. Now I’m going to do a similar card, but with different colors – I’ll post them in my Gallery on SCS, so you can see them when they’re uploaded tomorrow!
Hugs,
Susan, aka Soozie4Him on SCS
