Gifts of Christmas in Silver

Hi Everyone

I will be posting this ahead of time – as today we are sailing the high seas and I'm really worried about internet connection and yesterday was the last day close to land.  So, the posts for the next few days are all being written and set for posting – I hope this technology works!!!!

I based this sketch on a challenge and for the life of me, when I came to write up my blog post, I just couldn't remember which challenge.  I racked my brains and really couldn't remember.  When I get back, I'll have a look and see if I wrote it down.

I love the SU Gifts of Christmas set – the image is just so beautiful.  I wanted to do a really clean and simple version where the dove took center stage.

Card recipe:

  • Metallic silver card stock
  • Christmas Cocoa DSP
  • Basic Grey satin ribbon
  • Basic Grey card stock
  • Whisper White card stock
  • Rhinestones – clear
  • I stamped the image in Versarmark onto Whisper White card stock and used silver embossing powder and heat set it
  • I then stamped the bird again and used the embossing powder.  This time, I cut around the dove with my paper snips and mounted him over the original image with stampin dimensionals
  • I placed a piece of the DSP on the right hand side
  • I mounted the dove image onto Basic Grey card stock and then on to the metallic card stock
  • I placed a piece of satin ribbon behind the image and tied a knot
  • I cut the legs off the three rhinestones and adhered them with mini glue dots

I was really pleased with how this card turned out. It's clean, it's simple and very easy to make. The "hardest" part was cutting around the Dove – and even that was easy!   The metallic paper gives a beautiful sheen to the background but doesn't overpower the embossed image of the dove.  I hope you like it.  I only have a few more Christmas cards for you this year as we are getting very close to Christmas!

Have a fabulous day everyone – and as always, thank you for your visit!  The next card update will be Monday – so enjoy the rest of your weekend
