Hi Everyone. Happy Saturday.
The fabulous Nance has a great sketch for us this week. I had so much fun playing with it and, from what I have seen of ther other design team member's cards – they did, too!
My regular readers will know that I am currently involved in a card drive to support women and children in shelters around the country for Enchanted Makeovers. You can read more about this on this post. Consequently, almost all of the cards I am making right now are for this drive. I knew that I needed more children's cards and decided this layout would be a great one for one of my all time favorite boys stamps – I Dig You.
I had even more fun with my grater and some Early Espresso card stock. Here's what I did… you cal click to photos to make the bigger:
Isn't that cool? I was going to use some flocking powder, but I didn't have the right color, so took out an old grater with a very fine grating surface and went to work. The result was great! I really cannot remember where I first read about this – I think it was on splitcoaststampers. But its a cool way to create texture if you don't have flocking powder.
The other thing that I did was add Crystal Effects to my digger.
I really love the new Crystal Effects that SU is shipping. One of my biggest issues with CE has been the fact that it gums up and makes it so difficult to use. I tried putting a pin in there and all that happened was that the glue made the pin rusty! So, I was thrilled when I found that the new CE from SU has a stopper inside the top that stops the CE from gumming up. AWESOME!
- Of course, I had to get out my Wonderfully Worn background stamp to create some dirt. I had inked it up with Crumb Cake ink and then decided that it needed a little more dirt for dimension, so I got out my Early Espresso marker and my Color Spritzer and added some darker dirt.
- I inked up the animals in the set in More Mustard and stamped them onto a spare piece of Very Vanilla. I fussy cut around the giraffe and colored his spots, the top of his horns and his mane with Early Espresso marker. I added him onto the page after the Crystal Effects had dried.
- I inked along the edges of the Very Vanilla circle with Cajun Craze ink
I was really pleased with the overall outcome and hope that it brings joy to some little boy!
Don't forget to check out what the other Design Team members have created for your inspiration – you won't be disappointed. Then, pop along to the Paper Players and join us this week.
Hugs
Jaydee
