I Dig You – Paper Players Challenge #62

Hi Everyone.  Happy Saturday.

Tonight's card was made for the Paper Players Challenge #62.  The lovely Lesley has a great challenge for you all this week – and one that is so easy to play along with.  It's a theme challenge and we hope you will join us and play along.  We say goodbye to our fabulous summer design team and August guest designer this week – they did an amazing job.  However, we also say hello to our fabulous Fall Design Team and September guest designer, who are making their debut with this weeks challenge.  I promise you – there are so many great cards to inspire you – you need to go check out the blog post tomorrow.

PP Theme Challenge

As I am deep in the middle of getting all the cards ready for delivery to Operation Write Home, I decided I needed to make a birthday card for a little boy.  That gave me a great excuse to use one of the sets that I got from the new catalog in July – I DIG YOU.  In fact, I was sooooo deep in the middle of prepping the cards, that I forgot that I had to make a card for tomorrow's challenge!  Ooooppps… not much time to create this one – about 30 minutes!

I wanted to use fairly bright colors.  As I had just received my Domestic Goddess DSP, I thought this was a great opportunity to use it.  Now, for those of you who have seen the DG DSP, you might be surprised that I used it on a little boy's card, especially considering the fact that it has lots of ironing boards and baking spoons and stuff all over it… well, there are some pieces that are much more versatile! 🙂

Here's what I came up with.

Pp62 (1)

I really wasn't sure what sketch to use for the card this week, so I checked out the card sketches across at splitcoast and used sketch number 346.  I think it works really well for this image.

Here's the verse that I printed up for the inside of the card.

Pp62 (2)

Here are the deets on the card – all products Stampin' Up! unless otherwise noted:

  • Card stock:  Basic Gray, Poppy Parade, Whisper White
  • Stamp Set:  I Dig You (clear 122722, wood 122720.  Background "dirt" is from the Wonderfully Worn background stamp.
  • Inks:  Basic Gray, Poppy Parade, Pool Party
  • DSP: Domestic Goddess (122355)
  • Accessories:  Mini silver brads (122941), retired ribbon
  • The sentiment is actually from the I Dig You set, but it wasn't quite large enough for my needs.  So I typed up the sentiment and the inside verse on my PC and printed them out.
  • Tools:  Stampin' Dimensionals; Paper Snips; Oval and Oval Scallop Punches

On a personal note:

I was privileged today to be able to spend some quality time with all of the cards that you have sent in for our Operation Write Home card drive.   I won't give  you a number yet – not until all the final cards have been received this week, but you guys did well!!!! 🙂   I spent from 9pm to 2am this morning going through the cards and again from 10am until 5pm today going through all the cards, stamping the OWH logo on the back, putting them into their envelopes, sorting them, etc. etc. etc.  It's amazing how long it actually takes to do all of that, but the upside of that, means that I get to have a really good look at all those fabulous cards – and fabulous they are!!!

I know that the servicemen/women who are lucky enough to receive these wonderful cards will enjoy them – as will the recipients.  The cards were gorgeous.  So many of you took the time to color, fussy cut images, pop up elements, add wonderful embellishments, stamp the envelopes…. all the cards were fabulous.   I managed to get through all the cards from the following wonderful ladies…. GUYS….. YOU ROCK….. I can't wait to receive the rest of them.

In alphabetical order – here are the very kind submitters of cards for the drive:

Adelle

Andrea

Beth

Brenda

Cam

Cindy

Jan A – all the way from Down Under!

Kelli

Lori

Marcia

Patricia

I can't wait to showcase some of the wonderful cards these fabulous ladies submitted.  I promise you that you will have so much inspiration to draw from.  They really did us all proud.  I am so grateful to you all.    I am eagerly awaiting the cards from Soozie and Rach this week, which will, I believe, round out the people who helped us on this card drive.   If I have missed your name from this list and you have sent me cards, please send me an email and let me know.  You can find my email right under the picture of me, Lou and Fox the Camel.

Shout out to my darling hubby, tonight, who is still in China.  Hurry home will 'ya!

Have a wonderful Sunday everyone.  I hope you are all having a wonderful weekend and that for my blog readers on the East Coast – your power has been restored and life is returning to normal.  For those in the South – stay dry!

Hugs and prayers for those who need a lift tonight.

Jaydee

  1. I find it amazing that that is the DG DSP. I mean, I KNOW it is, but the fact you were able to use it for a little guy’s birthday card is fantastic. :o)
I can’t wait to see everyone’s contributions AND to hear totals. I hope mine make it to you soon. Thanks for your patience on that front. :oS And, once more, thank YOU for all the time you dedicate to getting these cards together and organized and ready to ship out. :o)
I have friends who are still waiting for power…ugh. At least we’re all drying out. I know it is so much worse up north. :o(
Lou, I hope all is going well in China and that your trip home is soon.
    Hugs!

  2. It’s wonderful so many people participated in this. What a blessing for our military. I LOVE this card – brought a smile to my face immediately. You always do such great design work.

  3. Love this card! What a great card for a little boy! I have done a few OWH card drives where I work; last year we had over 1200 cards! I am organizing another one in conjunction with national cardmaking day! It is a wonderful cause and so much fun to see all the cards people make!

  4. Such a fun card for a boy! I wouldn’t have thought of the domestic goddess dsp at first, but the plaid works just perfectly with the dig it set. Shows us we don’t have to save that set just for the girls.
I bet you’re having a blast looking at all the fun cards. I hope to participate in your next group. I just have not been doing that much stamping lately, but lots of ideas I want to try, so this would be a fun way to do it.

  5. That is a great card for a little guy!
It is exciting that so many ladies took time to make cards for the card drive. I will be looking forward to seeing some of the cards on your blog someday soon. If I lived closer I would love to help you sort and get them ready to send. But Ohio to Minnesota is a long drive!
Thanks for all your work on the card drive.

  6. What a great card for a little boy! Isn’t it great that the DSP has two sides… I find what I’m not fussy with on one side is perfect on the other. I also love that little driver in the truck! Too cute.

  7. Hi Jaydee! First, before I forget…would you be ok with me sending my OWH cards at the end of this week? I have a meeting this week in Dallas and my peers REALLY want to make some cards for OWH as part of a team-building event I am putting together. It would add 15 more cards…maybe more, to my pile of warm wishes for your drive for our awesome troops. Let me know if that sounds good!
Next up, your card! Yup, so I was just telling a friend that I was thinking about getting this set. You sealed the deal! I wish a dump truck filled with gifts stopped by MY house on my birthday! Your inside sentiment is fantastic! Love it! Big hugs, my friend! 🙂

  8. This is THE cutest little truck full of gifts that I have ever seen! I wish it would stop by my house 😉 Love the color combo you paired with this DSP…it’s perfect! Looking forward to working with you the next couple of months.
