Lou and I are back from a quick trip and I will be back to a more normal schedule of posting! As today is my last day of vacation, I decided to get a little stamping time in my craft space. After 10 days away from it, I was itching to get back into it.
Before I show you the card for the Freshly Made Sketches challenge this week, I wanted to give a shout out to the team across at Unscripted Sketches for choosing this card as one of the top three cards for their last challenge. It was such a fun challenge and being chosen as a winner was a great way to start off my crafting year!
So, let's take a look at the challenge across at Freshly Made this week.
Looking at the design team sketches made me think that it was OK to use any shape instead of the square, so I decided to have a little fun with the Simon Says Stamp January card kit stamp set and make a card for Lou. Now, my hubby may be getting on in years :-), but he's still a handsome guy and still has the capacity to make me go weak at the knees when I see him. Yeah, I know it sounds corny, but it is true! So, when I saw this stamp set, I knew that I would have to make him a card. As we have just spent 10 days away together, I thought this sketch, and this stamp set were perfect for a card.
It also gave me an excuse to use the brand new Stampin' Up! arrow embossing folder. I love this folder – it's neither masculine nor feminine and I think adds tremendous interest to a background. I combined it with Gorgeous Grunge. Here's my card
I used a couple of different stamps from Gorgeous Grunge behind the monster and on the sentiment layer. Of course, I had to pull out some googly eyes from the retired SU Ghoulish Googlies kit. Then, I was content with just doing the outside, I had to continue the theme through to the inside.
I popped the three eyes onto the card stock and then hand drew the strings and "balloons" around the eyes and added the sentiment from the SSS card kit stamp. So, what do you think? Cute? I do! What do you think about the arrows embossing folder?

On a personal note:
It was great to get away, but somehow it's always wonderful to get back home. The cats certainly missed us and, the normally very quite Bilbo Baggins, was running around meowing like crazy… which is VERY unusual for him. So, I'm guessing he was glad to have us home! Each of the cats was pleased in their own different ways, even the very independent Bailey was, I think, happy to have us home!
I'll be back with another card tomorrow and a little blog candy fun as a way to kick off the new year.

OMG! This card is a hoot! Love it! Freshly Made Sketches picked it right. Congratulations… I guess the kitties need a card too. It’s good to get away, but there is no place like home and yours is such a terrific place to go home. Too bad you have to go back to work, although routine is good too. Hi Jaydee! What a sweet, funny card! Adorable with the arrow embossing folder. I think this has gone up to the top of my list now. I especially like how the arrows are not symmetrical. I love the two-tone blue of your “love monster”, very pretty coloring. ; )
Happy to hear you got away and that you’re home safe. One of the best parts of coming home is the furry greetings and attention we receive! I always miss mine as much as they miss me (or so I think!).
