Hi everyone. Happy Tuesday night.
This is going to be a very quick post tonight.
Firstly, thank you to those of you who have already committed to join me in creating cards for the Operation Write Home card drive. I really appreciate it – and you know the service men and women – and their families – definitely will!
I have two cards for you tonight. They go along with the original card that I made – on this post. I made 8 cards – all one layer cards, all using the same background, but with a different focal image and sentiment. I think they make a great set. They will be on their way tomorrow to my dear colleague who sent me an at home spa care package.
I then created another card using the amazing image from the Precious Butterflies set. I LOVE this set.
Of course, I had to use Calypso Coral for the butterflies :-) I know you are going to love this set.
I wanted to close out tonight, with another letter from the Operation Write Home blog. I think it really is amazing to read how much a simple card, made by one of you, can make such a huge difference.
Dear Sandy,
I am the Commanding Officer of the Expeditionary Medical Facility, Kuwait. Our mission is to provide forward deployed, responsive, quality, expeditionary medical care to Soldiers, Sailors, and Airmen in the Iraqi and Kuwaiti areas of operation in support of Operations New Dawn and Enduring Freedom. These are extraordinary times in the Middle Eas, and our servicemen and women face significant challenges with high deployment tempos and the stressors of this environment.
My purpose in writing this letter is to thank you, on behalf of my entire team of Soldiers, Sailors, and Airmen, for your generous contribution of homemade gift cards donated to us through Operation Write Home. The cards have brought much joy to our team and that joy has been repeated in full measure as our families and loved ones receive the cards in the mail. I, along with my entire staff, have virtually emptied the box of beautifully homemade cards!
Your unique outreach reflects a remarkable sensitivity. Indeed, since 2007, your program has connected thousands of service members to their families and loved ones at home in such a beautiful way. Equally important, your encouraging notes connect our service members to the patriotism of citizens across America. Through your selfless service we know that we are not forgotten and that our service is not in vain.
Thank you, once again, for the beautiful cards. Your outreach has brought much joy to the men and women of our military and their families.
Sincerely,
K.J.I, Commanding Officer
I do hope that those of you who have not yet committed to contribute cards to the Operation Write Home card drive will consider it. If you are looking for the deets – you can check my post from last night. Just a reminder – and I forgot this last night – NO GLITTER! Please do not put any glitter on your cards – the glitter can easily be picked up by night scopes. And, I think you all know how difficult it is to get off of our stamping spaces, our hair, our fingers, our tables, etc. It's one risk our troops cannot take. 🙂
Patricia and Jill, I will be sending you an email tomorrow with my address. Thank you so much for offering to join us for the first time. I promise you, your cards will be much appreciated. Anne Marie, I always forget that you have gone through this yourself – thank you for offering to help other families in the same position. To Brenda, Cherie, Beth and Rach….. thank you for offering to help out again. You all know that it means a great deal to me and I am so grateful that you join me on this journey.
Prayers tonight for those who need a lift or a warm hug. I hope you have a wonderful Wednesday.
Hugs
Jaydee

What a wonderful, one-layer layout. These are wonderful, Jaydee. :o)
Thank you for all your work in organizing this particular OWH drive and taking the time to sort out, package and mail the cards. You are one in a million. :o)
Hugs!
Fabulous one layer cards! You have inspired me to give this a try!
Jaydee,
Love the sneak peeks! I need to try this cas style of card making too.
I am going to join your team to make cards for the first time for OWH. I will ask my sister to join me too! What an awesome idea and so helpful to our wonderful troops to connect home. Can we make multiples of some of our cards? Thinking that more than one soldier would get our cards, making multiples would speed up the process. Do we sign the back or leave that blank for them? Thank you for all you do with this Jaydee!!
