It's been pretty nuts here the last couple of days, as you can all imagine. We had to get everything that was not going to the new house with us ready to be taken to the charity shop yesterday. Considering that this consisted of most of our storage, it was fun getting all of the contents of the cupboards sorted, shredded, packed or ditched in time for the moving guys. There were also 60 boxes in the house that had been packed and were in the middle of the dining room and the basement. The garage was full of trashbags waiting to go to recycling and all round… it was chaos. On top of that we were both working and trying to keep sane!
Anyway, the nice young gentlemen arrived and sorted it all out. However, I did hear some major grunting when they picked up the boxes containing my stamping stuff!!!! There isn't a single stamp, piece of card stock, marker, inkpad or embellishment that isn't packed away! After they had gone and all the boxes had been taken to the garage, we moved the remaining furniture around and the house now feels empty. We are now in major clean up mode – every nook and every cranny will be cleaned. All picture holes in the walls fixed, carpet taken up ready for brand new carpet and windows painted. We still have a lot to do in the next two weeks, but the move is certainly starting to feel real.
I really did want to go up and see the house this weekend, especially as so much has happened over the last two weeks…. but we resisted. We really are going to hold out until we go for the walk through just before we go to close and get our keys.
We have kennels booked for the cats for 3 days whilst the move is on. It's really much better for them not to be here on this end when everything is moving and on the other end when it is all arriving.
Sadly, our new furniture will not be arriving when we move in. As we went for non-stocked fabrics, it all has to be custom made so we are 8-12 weeks out on just about everything. We have ordered a couple of tables and even though they aren't being custom made, they are on backorder. We think we might have to keep a couple of the boxes to sit on for a few weeks 🙂
So… I thought it was time to have a little fun. I found all sorts of wonderful goodies whilst I was packing up my stamping stuff and thought they would make great blog candy.
Our bar is finished in the basement. The top is really cool. It's a recycled material. Your job – for wonderful blog candy – is to guess what this recycled material was in it's original incarnation!

What the bar top is recycled from is very compacted – you can see it in multiple layers here – many layers.
So… the first person to guess what this recycled material was in it's original form will get a brand new 2011 Stampin' Up! Conference Bag. It's a fabulous bag but unfortunately I cannot upload a picture of it for you because I packed my tool to upload the pics!!! However, I did a little search on google – what would we do without it – and the fabulous UK demo Jo has an amazing pic on her website of the bag. I told you the bag was gorgeous, didn't I? So, how about playing along and guess what the bar top is made of. I will leave it for a couple of days for you to guess. If none of you guess correctly, then I will give you a different view of it.
There's a twist. (Is this beginning to sound like one of those late night TV ads? 🙂 ) I will also hand out prizes to those of you who come up with fun guesses as to what it could be. Stampin' Up! reusable shopping bags are the prizes I will be handing out.

What a fun contest. I will take a wild stab as I have no idea what it could be. I am going to guess that it is made from plastic bottles. Have a great week.
Well, it just might be made from crushed wine bottles of different colors. hee, hee. That would account for the variations of color.
Recycled paper? Anyway, your house looks great. I’m amazed by how you do so much! I’m so impressed.
Exciting progress! I think the bar is made of …um … thinking …. ah … crushed brick? No idea! Can’t wait to find out. Wish I lived closer so I could help you out in your adventure.
Let’s try newsprint for the bar. You’re going to just love being in your new home. Good idea for the cats to be on vacation while all the changes are taking place. You sure wouldn’t want to have one of them take off on their own during all of this. Much happiness in your new place.
I believe it is made from old tires. Not a glamorous guess but it is green 🙂
I am going to guess recycled glass. But whatever it is, it is beautiful. Thanks for keeping up posted on the moving progress. So much work…..so little time!
The bar is beautiful my guess is milk jugs.
My guess would be newspaper or plastic bags. The new house looks gorgeous and enjoy seeing all the pictures. The siding looks alot like mine.
I think the recycled things used are sawdust and plastic soda bottles combined for strength.
Can hardly wait for more pictures of the house. You must be exhausted.

could it be aluminum cans or other types of aluminum?
Another thought, porcelain, mirrors, glass & stone? We have carpet made from recycled pop bottles & it’s so nice & soft. Love it! Now I know we can look for recycled countertops for the next big project.

I’m going for silly here, since my serious guess has been used already. Your bar top is made from sanitized fish scales, one can see that in the little bits of sparkle and the very thin layers. What an awesome green invention it is and a lovely fixture to keep the purrballs entertained as well. Great addition to your home Jaydee!
Well, I tried to do a little research and be creative at the same time for a good answer! The most amazing thing I read was that fly ash and even sunflower seed hulls can be used in making recycled countertops! So I am going with sunflower seed hulls for my answer! It sounds very Jaydee-ish! If I was allowed a guess on my own, without the benefit of google, I would say plastic bags! I will be waiting patiently to see the correct answer! Have fun with your move!
Hi Jaydee! I’m not up with modern technology for countertops and I refuse to google. My guess is just that…my guess. I’m thinking recycled cat food cans? Whatever it is, it is gorgeous! Hope things go smoothly for both of you.

Hi Jaydee, hope the packing is going well. Just had to put in another thought that jumped out at me when you said compacted – cars. My hubby said there must be some other use for recycled compacted cars, but it just jumped into my mind, so gotta throw it in the hat.
I’m guessing toilet tissue. The counter top is beautiful!!! Funny guess, don’t you think?
