Hi Everyone.

Hope you are all having a fabulous weekend.

Online spectacular begins tomorrow.  Don't forget to check out the website for some AMAZING Thanksgiving week deals.  Also, still a few more days to save 50% on the sign-up kit.  Two amazing deals for you.  Over $300 in Stampin' Up! goodies for $87.50.  When you sign up, you also get 30% off of your first order.  Don't forget to check the website tomorrow and talk with your demonstrator.

Tonight's card was inspired by the amazing pic across at Moxiefabworld's Trigger Tuesday

Carey Mulligan from Vogue

I know that for most people the red ruffles would be the obvious route… but for me… I was struck by the strong pink bow and how exaggerated it was.  I loved the strong red, black and white color scheme – and that shocking pink bow is a totally unexpected touch.  Also, the outfit is exceptionally angular, and softened only by the bow.  Even the ruffles, although they are soft, look much more structural due to the horizontal layering.

So, I went for a card with strong clean lines and an exaggerated pink bow.

What do you think?  Can you see the inspiration?

Once again I used my Mostly Vintage stencil.  I really do love stenciling on cards.  The "just for you" is from the Afterthoughts hostess stamp set.  Of course, I couldn't resist coloring 3 of the Basic Pearls to add a little interest on the right hand side of the sentiment – to frame the sentiment and also help balance out the pink on the left.

Robin… I saw your comment this morning on my post yesterday.  Amen, to that.  In fact, when Lou and I were in the Azores, I took this picture and thought the same thing as you had said on your comment.  It was a dull day, so the pic isn't that great.  But I loved the sentiment – and where it was placed.

Azores

A couple of congratulations are in order… to Adelle…. who attended her first craft fair and did brilliantly!  To Beverly, on becoming a Stampin' Up! demonstrator – and she's going to be great at it!

On a personal note:  I did manage to get the basement cleared out for an early start with the furnace guys tomorrow.  I can't wait to finally get some heat in the house.  The cats can't wait either!

Prayers tonight:  For Miriam's husband… Rach's friend Robin, whose little bundle of premature joy is back in hospital.  If you want to take a peak at this precious little bundle, check out Rach's post here.  For John and Sue…. may John continue to recover.  For Rose, who starts her treatment this week.  For Beth, I hope that you and the family are beginning the road to recovery, so tough at this time of year.   For thos of you who need a little lift.

Have a fabulous Monday, everyone.

Hugs

Jayde

P.S.  In the midst of clean up of the basement, cleaning, card making, etc.  I did get a little time to try to do some problem determination on the videos and why some of you aren't able to view them…. I determined that those of you using Safari are having no problems at all.  Those of you using a certain version of Internet Explorer aren't able to view them at all – or are getting white screens.  Those of you using certain version of Mozilla, will get part way through the video and then it will stop.  So…. now, I have to phone Apple and ask them what the heck to do here.  I don't want to go to youtube…. but at least I did make some progress.

  1. Interesting card, just lovely as are all your cards. Love the picture of Lou and the saying post. Will keep Robin’s baby in my prayers and for strength for them to get through this ordeal.

  2. I love the card! Then again, black and red are one of my favorite card combos. :o)
What a wonderful sentiment on that post that Lou is standing with.
I hope you are feeling more the thing and that the furnace warms your house nicely. What a nightmare to come home to, although it certainly could have been worse.
An update on Joshua–he SHOULD be coming home today! :o) Praises! Thank you all for your prayers!
    Hugs!

  3. Hey Jaydee! What a fun approach to this week’s Tuesday Trigger in the Moxie Fab World! Thanks so much for playing along! 🙂

  4. Beautiful card, I can see the insperation photo perfectly-the bright pink ribbon against the red is what stood out to me as well.
Wonderful photo of Lou as well, my family found a Peace Pole at Itasca State Park this summer. I was also struck by the placement-the birthplace of the Mississippi River. What an amazingly simple thing with such profound impact. Thank you Jaydee for sharing this with us.
Wishing Jaydee, warmth and continued recovery, to those in need warm thoughts and prayers and to One & All a wonderful day.

  5. Fabulous interpretation of the inspiration photo! You are so right…ruffles were the obvious choice, but by selecting the pink bow as your focus, you made a much stronger statement! Yowza!

  6. Love the card. Yes, Jaydee, you captured the pic vibe nicely.
I’ll take a hug today. Lost my DH 5 years ago today. Great memories in my head and heart. Thanks.
Don’t you love the snow! Maybe not the ice, though.
