Life…. for Paper Players #147

Hi Everyone.  Happy Saturday night.

It's the fabulous LeAnne's turn to host at the Paper Players this week and she has a great sketch for use.

When I first saw it I thought… aaargh:-)   However, I then started to really think about it and had several ideas on how to create my card.   I made one card with this sketch for the challenge, but, because I had a couple of other ideas in my head, I will be trying out a couple more over the next two days.

I needed a card for Lou.   Why?   Well, let's just say that this weekend includes an activity with brushes and cans and blue tape….. errrr. yep…. he's painting again.   Not that he wants to, I might add.  It's because I want him to.  Poor guy, he's got about 8 different samples of paint to try over the fireplace on the main level.   We aren't just talking slightly different shades of color either.  These are way different!   So, because he is being so patient and because it means he might miss a couple of his bike rides, I decided to create a card especially for him using this sketch.

Lou only rides Bianchi bikes.   They are a very specific color – Celeste Blue.   Pool Party was the closest color I could find, so that was the starting point for my card.   I realized that I had some of the Sent with Love DSP left and that would be perfect for my card.

Here's my card:

and here's the inside:

I used a couple old brads to ensure that the wheels on the bike (I stamped them twice and cut them out) would move.  I thought that would be a cute touch!  I used my gelly roller pen on the wheels and the bike frame to give them a little more shine, but it was pretty tough to get a decent shot of them!

I think that he will appreciate it and I think that he will recognize the Celeste Blue – even if it is a female bike 🙂

We'd love for you to play along with us this week.  I can't wait to see what you all do with this sketch.  The Players certainly took it in so many different directions.  You really should check out what they did.

On a personal note:

Lou decided to treat me today and organized a 75 minute facial and a pedicure for me.  Oh.  yes!  Now that is the life.  I sure would like to be a "lady-who-lunches-with-a-never-pending-access-to-a- credit-card-that-I-don't-have-to-worry-about"!   However, we didn't win the $600 million lottery, so I will just have to take these little treats as and when I get them. 🙂  It was incredibly relaxing and my feet now look human as opposed to things that belong in "The Shire" in a hobbit script!

Colleen, you asked me about the shepherd's hook and the tray on top of the feeder.   I took a shot for you.   This is a feeder system that comes with multiple different components and we bought it at Wild Birds Unlimited.

So, you can see that it has a piece that sits on top of the two shepherd hooks that has another two shepherd hooks and then the tray feeder sits on top of that.   The last thing is the finial.  It's very modular and works like a dream for us.

Want to know what has been visiting the feeder?

If you look closely you will see the Grosbeak male and female as well as the Cowbird males and females.  The Grosbeaks not only eat the seed that we put out, but they love the jelly that we have set up for the Orioles.

Oh…. and I was sitting outside on the front porch and caught a flash of blue.

They love this tree.  We haven't worked out where they are nesting yet, but hope they stay around for summer.

I'll be back tomorrow with another card.  In the meantime, warm hugs and prayers to those of you who need a little lift tonight.   Marge… special prayers for you.

Hugs

Jaydee

  1. Jaydee, glad to see that you feel like creating again. I so enjoy your cards (they are inspirations for me) and your personal notes. Pray that all is better at work. We girls do enjoy being pampered. Especially when hubby feels you need it. Have a good Holiday weekend.

  2. Such a sweet card for all Lou does. Painting again!! Your shots of nature are always so uplifting. Thanks for sharing and have a good holiday weekend.

  3. LOVE this….what a great color palette, and anything bicycle-y is A-OK in my book! The inside sentiment is perfect for your DH, especially considering the job he has ahead of him! Thanks for making my sketch look so awesome!

  4. I love what you did with this sketch, Jaydee. I was originally thinking the same thing, to have something that spanned across the four quadrants. The bike is perfect and I bet hubby will love it. And I hope you enjoyed your spa day, it sounded wonderful! Hugs 🙂 Sandy

  5. Thank you Jaydee.
I didn’t know if you had built the platform feeder and mounted it yourself or what. Thank you for the full shot of the feeder and the nature pictures

  6. I love these blues together! And that bicycle is such a fun image. Love what you did with the sketch.

  7. What a challenging sketch! I love what you’ve done with it–you CASified it you crafty lady, you! :o) And now, looking at this card, I see that must be a die cut for the bike. Still…what a fun set. :o)
Oh the delightful birds! I desperately want another feeding station or two–my in-laws set up the most beautiful one right outside their dining room window that can be seen from the kitchen sink. I’m jealous to say the least. :oP
    Happy Wednesday, friend!
    Hugs!

  8. What a fabulous card, Jaydee! I love the placement of the bike and your color choices. You have matched the Bianchi color perfectly–my husband loves his too! ((hugs))
