Love – die cuts only

Hi Everyone

I saw this great challenge across at AAA Cards

Wow… now that made me stop and think.  How do I create a card using only die-cuts – no stamping!  I had such fun with this challenge and decided to make the most of some DSP and a couple of Dies.

You might recognize one of the elements from my post yesterday 🙂

Here's a closeup of the elements from the two die-cuts I used – a sentiment and a butterfly.

Love Butterfly - AAA closeup (1 of 1)

I took a piece of the fabulous DSP from Altenew – I love the big, bold, graphical images on it.  I die-cut the sentiment out of the DSP and then 3x out of 80# Neenah Solar White.  I adhered the layers together and used the in-laid die-cut technique to place it back into the opening.

For the butterfly, I die-cut the butterfly  out of a matching piece of DSP and then mounted it just above the sentiment.  I made sure that I cut the butterfly from just the right place on the second piece of DSP so that it would blend with the background in the same way as the sentiment did 🙂 I placed a small piece of foam tape underneath each wing to ensure that it stayed lifted from the card base.    All I need to do was add a gold enamel dot and some shimmer and shine to the butterfly

Here's my card:

Isn't that paper gorgeous?  I love it and think it works really well with the in-laid die-cut technique.

I'll be back tomorrow with another post for you.  In the meantime, warm hugs and prayers for those of you who need a little lift tonight.

Hugs

Jaydee

  1. Wonderful use of that dsp, makes for a very classy and beautiful card. Thanks for joining in with the current challenge at AAA Cards.

  2. Absolutely beautiful . . . this technique is beautiful . . . I remember when I learned with you the fact of just punching the same die cut and then gluing it togeher . . . at that time I bought the die “HELLO” . . . this technique goes a little farther. Thanks Jaydee!!

  3. Wow, that dsp looks like you’ve created it with a paintbrush! So bight and cheery! Great technique used too, I don’t see that very often. Love this one Jaydee!
