Mambo Flower for Cardabilities and casestudy

Hi Everyone.   Happy Tuesday.

I had fun playing along with a sketch challenge from cardabilities and the inspiration from casestudy.  I was really inspired by the colors and the floral theme from casestudy, and loved the sketch across at cardabilities.

I changed the color from red to pink…. what I had in mind seemed to fit so much better with pink than with red.  I decided it was time to pull out some of the crepe filter papers from SU that have been sitting in my cupboard for yonks!   I played around with some Melon Mambo reinker and rubbing alcohol mixed in my new Stampin' Spritzers and my 2 3/8" scallop circle punch.

I punched out several layers of the crepe paper filter and laid them down on a paper towel.  I then spritzed each of the layers and left them to dry.  I punched a hole through the middle and set a rhinestone brad in the middle to tie all of the layers together.  All that was left to do was to scrunch up the layers and make a flower.   The great thing about the crepe filter paper is that you can lie it pretty flat to go through the post and then the recipient just needs to crunch it up again and we are back to a perfect flower.  Now… it won't go through the post totally flat, and will still need extra postage, but it is much better than if I was trying to do it with normal card stock.

Here's my card:

Mambo flower (1 of 1)
Of course, I had to dress it up with some retired polka dot paper and then repeat the circles them on the leaves.   I used a piece of Lucky Limeade card stock that I ran through my Big Shot with my polka dot folder and then put it through again – this time with the leaf from the Secret Garden framelits.   I was really pleased with the way the whole card turned out and thought that the sentiment was perfect for a card for our OWH card drive.

On a personal note:

Talking about OWH…. I finished photographing all of Pamela, Cindy, Gill and Marilyn's cards last night.  They are all prepped and waiting for the others to arrive :-)   I really can't wait to share the photo's with you and, even though Rach is right, the photos never truly do them justice, I think you will be impressed with them!  I know I certainly was.

As always, thank you for visiting my little neck of the stamping blogosphere.   You know I appreciate your visits – and your comments.    Warm hugs and prayers for those of you who need a little lift tonight.

Hugs

Jaydee

  1. I love this Jaydee! Your flower reminds me of those big tissue paper flowers on a wooden stick at the fair when I was a child. The soft pink is so girly and the sentiment is perfect for OWH.

  2. Oooh! Such a pretty and vibrant card. Love the flower.
I am putting my OWH cards in the mail today. Such fun.

  3. LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the pink and the flower!! Gorgeous!! Thanks for joining us at CASE Study this week!

  4. That is a fun and fluffy flower, Jaydee! :o) And, you’re absolutely right, the sentiment is perfect for OWH.
And, yes, you’re right, even though the photos never do them justice, they are still wonderful see and I’m looking forward to it. It’s just that, sometimes there is a subtle shimmer a photo just can’t capture…You know what I mean. :o)
And, speaking of OWH, I had best hie me to the offudio to make some cards. Lissie said she’s sending about 60(!) and I know I’ve got quite the stack going myself. I can’t wait to get them to you! :o)
    Hugs!
    P.S. Hi Lou! :o)
