Natural Composition for Paper Players #131

Hi Everyone.  Happy Saturday.  I hope it's warmer where you are than here 🙂

The fabulous and talented Nance has a theme challenge for us this week.   It's a great challenge, as so many of us battle with these types of cards.  I know I do.

I knew that I wanted to go with something floral.  However, when I looked through my (not inconsiderable) stash of stamps, I realized that I didn't have what I wanted.  Mmm…. How could that be?  I mean, seriously, I've been crafting for 7 years, how could I not have what I wanted for a sympathy card?????   So, I had to get creative!

I found some DSP that I have had for yonks and never used.   It was the muted color that I was looking for, but…. it needed a little something!   My Stampin' Up! markers were exactly what I needed.

So, here's what the DSP looked like before I used it on my card

It's beautifully embossed with clear embossing powder, but it really needed something.   So, I cut a little piece to play with

Yes… that's more like it!    BTW – this does not work with Copics.   Copics are wonderful, and you all know that I love an excuse to use them.  However, because of the structure of the alcohol markers, they cover everything and color everything.  In this case, I wanted the embossed area to remain uncolored – that's why you need the water based markers!

Here's my card:

I love how subtle the markers are on the kraft base.  The white flowers tie into the white sentiment and the white mat layer.  You all know I love things in threes!  Teeny Tiny Wishes was the perfect set for the sentiment.  It really is one of my favorite sets!   In the end, I was very pleased with the overall card.

Now, we hope that you will play along with Nance's challenge and don't forget to check out the fabulous inspiration cards the design team have for you.

Have a wonderful Sunday
