Hi Everyone. Happy Sunday.
It's my turn to host the Paper Players challenge this week and it's color week.
So, black and white and ONE other color. As fall is just around the corner, really?! We only started summer about three weeks ago, didn't we? Anyway, I digress…. where was I? Oh, yes! As fall is just around the corner, I decided to go with orange. But, today's card has NOTHING to do with fall 🙂
As a last minute purchase, I slipped Stampin' Up's! Nine Lives into my basket. as I adored the little cat. I love the way it comes with different patterns for the cat coat.
I wanted to make a very clean and simple card and allow the focus to be on the cat. However, I needed some way to make him be the main focal point and not having him just floating out there in space.
I decided to use my layered rectangles to create a window frame for him. I popped the frame up onto the center of my card and then fussy cut the cat and popped him on the card base as though he was sitting on the window sill, with his tail sticking out the side of the window.
Here's a closeup:
The layered rectangles worked perfectly as the window 🙂
I stamped a sentiment and the card was complete.
I hope you will join us and play along this week. As usual, the design team have some fabulous inspiration for you:
On a personal note:
I managed to spend some time in my craft room making cards for SendASmile4Kids today. Although stamping and designing are still difficult for me, I am able to make cards using some of the Echo Park paper, stickers and ephemera kits. All I need to do is cut the card stock and the paper and the rest is just assembly. It's good exercise for my hand. So, it's a win-win. Exercising my hand – and doing something good for someone else. Oh and on a wet, rainy, cool day – it's a great place to be to escape the weather:-)
I'll be back tomorrow with another card – and the winner of Lou's birthday blog candy. In the meantime, warm hugs and prayers for those of you who need a little lift tonight.
Hugs
Jaydee
