Painted Petals and Lotus Blossom for Paper Players #229

Hi Everyone.  Happy Sunday.

I hope you are all having a wonderful weekend and keeping warm 🙂

It's my turn to host the Paper Players challenge this week and I have a sketch for you:

 

I knew that I wanted to use the new Lotus Blossom stamp (free from SU with any order over $50!) and pair it with one of my favorites from the Occasions catalog – Painted Petals.   

I am still on my new year resolution to use colors and items that I don't show much love, and this card is no exception as I pulled out So Saffron card stock.   It's a color I very, very, very rarely use and I;m not entirely sure why!  It's such a soft yellow and I think I might have fallen just a little bit in love with it after making this card.   It pairs really well with Hello Honey, too and I used that on the Lotus Blossom flower.   

I paired the rarely used So Saffron with colors such as Calypso Coral – another color I never use!   I used the Painted Petals components to make the horizontal layer and the sentiment from the set was overlaid on the Lotus Blossom flower.

 On a personal note:
 
I got a little time in my craft room today, but I found myself drawn to the outdoors as it got to 40 degrees here today.  Now, that might not seem a particularly high temperature but, here in Minnesota, this temperature is more associated with April!  It was wonderful to stand in my craft room looking out at the view and listening to the chickadees :-)  I think it might be just a little cooler tomorrow and I will be less distracted 🙂
 
Lou and I have seen 4 amazing movies in the last couple of weeks.   In fact, we have seen more movies in the last two weeks than we have in the last year!  It started with the Imitation Game and the story of Alan Turing and Bletchley.  Then we went to see the story of Stephen Hawking and "The Theory of Everything".  We backended that with …. oh…. my childhood love… "Paddington" and, yesterday, we went to see "Strange Magic".  Apart from the fact that it is the most amazing soundtrack, the visuals are absolutely beautiful and, I promise you, you will never look at butterflies the same way again!
 
I'll be back tomorrow with another card.  In the meantime, warm hugs and prayers for those of you who need a little lift tonight.

  2. You used my one of my most favorite color palettes in this card! I am so happy to hear that you fell in love with So Saffron because it really is a beautiful color. I think you have convinced me to get the stitched dies! They really make a perfect border. Pretty card!!

  6. Hi Jaydee 🙂 First of all I love this classic sketch and have already used it twice. Your use of it is so soft and beautiful. I love So Saffron too, and it works so well with the two stamp sets you selected. The piercing ties everything together so well. Hugs!
