Hi Everyone.
Happy Saturday. I hope you had a fabulous day. I got to make 1 card today…. Yep… just one…. I swear it took me longer to make the card than it took Noah to make the Ark! You will see that card tomorrow 🙂
Mmm…. I'm not sure what happened… but my post didn't save last night! So, most of you will only see this post on Sunday, so I will keep this as the post for Saturday and Sunday.
Tonight's card uses my favorite set from the new mini. In fact, I think it is one of my favorite ever Christmas sets. It's especially interesting considering I wasn't even thinking about getting it!
LeAnne set us a challenge this week. Monochromatic. So, keeping within the same color family! I just went to upload my card to the paperplayers challenge site and had to laugh. If you take a look at the site, you will see why. The entire team either went with Browns or Bllues…. I mean…. it isn't like there aren't other colors in the spectrum you know! Take a peek at the fabulous submissions from the design team. There are some really gorgeous cards for you.
LeAnne created a gorgeous Christmas card in Blues
Nance created a fabulous neutrals "I'm here for you" card using the emboss resist technique
Ann created a beautiful Christmas card – also using neutrals and my favorite – A Wish for Peace set
Lesley created her own background paper for an amazing Christmas card
I originally started with earth tones and then thought. NAH…. So, I got out my Angelic Joy and decided to go with blues for a change. I hadn't done a blue colored angel yet… and thought it was about time. Generally, I have used the renaissance colors – yellow and red, but loved the idea of a cooler palette. It was also a great excuse for me to bring out my metallic silver card stock! Cos… blue and gray are in the same color family right? 🙂
Card recipe:
- Card stock: Metallic Silver, Whisper White, Marina Mist, Night of Navy
- Stamps: Angelic Jo
- Accessories: Inks for coloring, Basic Grey Satin Ribbon, silver embossing powder (for her halo), Modern label punch, small basic pearls, Uniball White pen (for the dove)
Card instructions:
- Cut Metallic card stock to A2. 11 x 4 1/4. Score at 5 1/2 and have the fold at the top
- Cut Whisper White to 2 3/4 x 4 1/4. Ink up image and stamp – leaving enough space to place your ribbon at the top
- Cut Marina Mist to 3 x 4 1/2
- Cut Night of Navy to 3 1/4 x 4 3/4
- Adhere Night of Navy to card base using snail. Adhere Marina Mist to Night of Navy layer using Stampin' Dimensionals
- ç
- Adhere Whisper White layer to Marina Mist using Stampin' Dimensionals
- Stamp sentiment in Basic Grey onto Whisper White and punch out using Modern Label punch. Adhere to Whisper White using dimensionals. Add two small basic pearls to either end of the sentiment.
Tips:
- Want to know how to color this image using classic inks and a blender pen? Click this link to see my technique video
- Want to know how I tie my bows? Click this link for a technique video on how to create them.
- I think I've finally found the best way to attach ribbon…. use Crystal Effects behind the bow on the card stock and then adhere the bow. Leave to dry. If you do this, you get a much more solid ribbon attachment.
On a personal note:
It was a glorious day here today. Although, we did have our first had frost of the season last night. I heard on the radio that we are currently about 10 degrees lower than average for weather. It certainly felt like it last night – and even yesterday. Our trip to the market was a cold one! We got there a little after 7am and it was about 40 degrees. Needless to say, I hadn't rugged up enough and felt it after about 5 minutes of walking around.
Today, I worked all morning and into the early part of the afternoon and then spent the rest of the afternoon making videos for you. You will be glad to know that I got most of your requests done. The only one I couldn't get done was the distressing kit. But I did manage to get the video on using the big shot with nestabilities, making my paper flower, an embossing 101, tips on using the new petal punch. So, you need to let me know what is next on your request list!
I hope you all have a fabulous Monday. As always thank you for stopping by my blog. Your support, your visits – and your comments – are much appreciated.
Prayers tonight for Germaine, Missy, T, Pri. John & Sue. Lesley, Adelle, Rach and their furbabies.
Don't forget…. smile at a stranger it may save their life.
Hugs
Jaydee

Beautiful Jaydee! Thanks for the prayers! I truly appreciate it!
Love this card Jaydee!! My fav colors & stampset!
I couldn’t get into your video without getting Firefox! Is there another way?? Thanks, Beth
Hi Beth. I checked and the message I got is that it is supported with Firefox, Safari or the latest version of Internet Explorer. My IE version is down level – an edict from my employer (the only time I use IE).
So, I think that is probably the issue you are having.
Hugs
